Why are we buying clothes
Cheers. I'm sure they are wary of the typical LL Bean menswear customer who likely wears clothes a size too large anyway. Chamois shirts are supposed to be overshirts . It's hard to tell from the photos, but do you know what the elbow patch fabric is on the red chamois shirt?
Edit: Ah, looks like tan twill. Might be a dealbreaker for me. Who puts a lighter fabric in high wear areas like this??
I like my Wythe sweatshirt a lot. Boxy, nice detailing. I went tts.
That’s a fairly common feature on upland hunting shirts. It’s an anti-abrasion patch for pushing thru bramble and thickets. It is a twill material, and sort of brushed. It feels just as substantial as the chamois material. The placement of it is sort of strange for an elbow patch though - it starts just barely above the elbow (on me any way) and runs down the rest of the sleeve to the cuff. It's sort of a weird feature and feels like it's there to sort of reinforce the sleeve gauntlet? And unlike most suede patches I've had on sweaters or shirts or jackets where they can relatively easily be removed, this one is sort of sewn into/under the seam of the sleeve on one side of the patch. I don't think it could be removed without ruining the sleeves.

I’ve seriously looked into buying this parka, until All Blues refused to remove VAT. That’s a dealbreaker for me from any shop. It’s about $450, including VAT.There's a store in Britain called All Blues Co. They sell workwear and Americana. I don't know if it's your thing, but they have this South Korean brand called FrizmWORKS. For their 10th anniversary, FrizmWORKS released a special edition of their parka, which is modeled after an old Eddie Bauer classic called the Kara Koram

And then the Friz version

I don't remember the price, but it's shockingly affordable for being a down parka. Well under $1,000, if I remember correctly. The whole shop has that kind of vibe -- like 2010 heritage menswear in both styling and prices.

I bought a Rocky Mountain Featherbed down coat and like it, but it was very expensive for what it is. Sort of the deal with some of these dead labels now revived by a Japanese company. Also have the Nigel Cabourn Everest, but it feels like overkill most days. I've heard from friends that Crescent Down Works is extremely warm. If you didn't want to deal with the hassle of overseas shopping, they're a much easier company to deal within the US. I've also always wanted one of those Eastlogue military-style down jackets.
All Blues doesn't have an online shop, so if you want anything, you have to contact them via IG or call them.

Is there a reason why they haven't moved to a webstore? It seems like they are doing ok but the man hours spent replying to DMs on whether something is in stock or measurements, etc. has to be pretty significant that a webstore can cut out.
I realize it’s easier through a web shop, but if they can’t get it together to deduct VAT, it’s just not worth it for me.
