I also miss Gary Warnett. He had one of the best style blogs around -- just full of first-hand, insider knowledge of the streetwear industry from having been in the trade for so long. Then one day he was just gone. Totally random.

What are driving loafers? Are they just slippers for driving?
i think they come from an age when men wore leather soled shoes and boots - awful to drive in. also cars were much worse to drive back in the day obviously. I once went to a driving lesson in Paraboots and had to swap into my instructor's loafers, I could not operate a clutch to save my life in Paras

Also, I'm tired of selling clothing items I decide I no longer desire. Having to wait indefinitely while progressively marching your asking price into the ground, having to deal with lowballers and non-payers, having to give a sizable taste to eBay and PayPal, and having to with great frequency interact with a postal employee who has made it her raison dêtre to find something wrong with every single package that crosses her booth so she can then feel validated when she “corrects” it. I found it endearing at first, but it’s bordering on psychotic.

With every sale I tell myself it will be the last one, but when the next expensive item comes up on the chopping block I find myself resistant to just donating it.
I've mostly taken to selling using 3rd-party resellers. They take a huge cut, but there's also huge time & mental value in not having to take pictures, deal with low-balls, ship things properly and worry about any buyer fraud. And I've had a couple things not sell on ebay/g railed for months, and then they sell pretty much instantly on reseller for more than what I was asking.

Ive done the same, dropped of at shop that @robinsongreen68 introduced me to. They took a sizable cut but a couple items went for more than i had bought myself so in the end i was rather satisfied picking up a check and not dealing with the madness of online sales

Didn’t see this posted in the last page or two, but since now i just wear basketball shorts and tank and won’t leave my place until 2022 I guess i can relate. But i did get a nice dries trench for when i eventually emerge.

Received some Barbanera woven Rimbauds. Not particularly impressed with quality. If I'm going to go with easily-packable shoe that will soon fall apart, I may as well check out Belgians, so I'm going to visit the shop later this week.

It's one particular model and make. Companies use different factories based on the materials and construction method they're seeking. I haven't had experience with their other shoes, so I can't speak to general quality, but I wouldn't take this as decisive for the whole brand.

I'm also not an expert. They just seem a bit cheap to me.

Very interesting...I have more than a few barbanera, and always found the construction, leather, QA, and details to be A+. I wonder what went wrong there...

No defects that I can see. The primary elements that lead me to feel they're cheap are:
  • Only the tongue and throat are lined with leather. The rest is fabric-lined
  • The leather lining that is there looks and feels cheap to me
  • Similarly, the leather insole feels cheap. The leather even smells cheap - chemica-smelling tannage
I still may decide to keep them, as they are a dead-on fit, look good and are relatively comfortable. Will have to see how Belgians compare.

That's it. My WFH interview attire is now officially a Reyn Spooner Hawaiian shirt, Prana hiking pants, and Chacos.

thought you were incapable of wearing 'normal people clothes', how is a dries trench roomy enough for you?
