@troika You’re missing the point that SF has an idiosyncratically broad definition of streetwear. As I understand it, he’s talking about a specific fashion subculture, so, discussions about the semantics aside, you’re missing his point.

Is his point then that high fashion is boring and diluted?

I don’t follow S&D often enough, I first browse outside CM side because I want to buy some jeans, and given how much RL I had thought I would check RRL, so somehow this side of forum to me means workwear to start with then the other thing I cared for was technical outwear (usable ones), so the kind of steerwear you’re referring to to me almost felt too 90s, maybe that was the spirit at certain point but I never felt it was here somehow

I think he's using streetwear to refer to sneaker culture, printed hoodies, printed tees, Supreme, Stussy, BAPE, etc.

I mean...it IS boring. It's just clothes, after all. The most outrageous Rick penis pants in the end aren't something to ever really get you excited. It's just a mildly interesting form of personal expression, and when the personal part of that expression is removed then again...it's just clothes.

I don’t know about you but I absolutely lose it when I’m looking at an amazing piece of clothing or footwear.

Great design in clothing is just as thrilling to me as great architecture, automotive design or even fine art.

I feel the same way about a Rolex as I do a Porsche as I do Visvim boots.

I think what I was trying to get at is the lines being blurred between high fashion and streetwear, aka streetwear's current iteration, is boring me personally.

I think he's using streetwear to refer to sneaker culture, printed hoodies, printed tees, Supreme, Stussy, BAPE, etc.

I'd thrown in high fashion as well. Brands like Rick Owens, Vetements, and Gucci bore me heavily now.

i think fashion (among other things) is going to be very exciting over the next decade, especially in the US. that's not to say there hasn't been a kind of malaise but i'm very optimistic and sort of pop corning over the next few developments. and that's my 2 bits!

Is it just me or are there some Korean brands doing really nice stuff that nobody in the English-speaking fashion world talks about? Aside from Document (which I believe is Korean and which NMWA carries), I’m thinking of Chad Prom, Youth Lab, Ourselves, and I’m sure some others I can’t recall the names of. It’s stuff like Our Legacy and Lemaire and whatnot, but better IMO.

I just looked at the first two. They seem... fine? Idk, what's so notable about them? The former gives much more of an anglo-italian vibe than an our legacy/lemaire vibe, but some nice looking stuff anyway. I assume none of it would fit me well.
