i'm against blue shoes and a caiman cowboy boot feels too Texas for me but i think you can pull it off.

re: tecovas in general: i'm happy enough with my tecovas pair. would buy something from them again, but i'm not 100 on their materials. i'm probably going to stick to their suede in the future over their smooth leathers.
Yep with cheap(ish) brands it’s better to stick to suede.

Anyone have recs for a gilet that isn’t boring? Looking for a middle layer. Having a stand collar to cover neck is better than no collar for me.

So I’m kinda digging these blue boots. They’re Cayman Tecovas made in Mexico don’t know about quality. What’s the sf consensus on these?

Idk about their exotics, but I have their side zips and really love them. The quality is totally ok, they're an online DTC brand so don't expect much.

Picked up a Shadow Project Ghost down coat. All blacked out. Crazy warm. But leaked feathers, looked like it was covered in snow. Returned.

Seems like should be easy to find something that’s legit warm, not covered in ugly logos, but I’m having a hard time. Suggestions?

Carmina have MTO option for a sidezip in navy calf, with cuban heel options etc.

Edit: quick mock up with navy calf (looks almost black, no idea IRL), double leather sole with cuban heel in black.

I sold all my Camina and other CM type boots/sidezips cuz they have weak heels which throw off proportions imo. No weak heels.

By “weak” I’m assuming you mean too flat/low etc. because that’s actually what made me buy some Tecovas as I felt that the Buttero Floyds were kinda boring. So yes from these traditional European shoemaker companies you can’t expect a big heel, although to be honest my latest purchase from that type of brand, some C&J Skye II have a pretty big heel, but yeah it’s a different style.

But I was thinking, La botte gardia e also had MTO options and they wouldn’t be as classic as Carmina, maybe they have navy in some sidezips?

Weak like low and out of proportion. I used to have Buttero Floyd and Paris boots, but found the heel too low.

Yes to Savas backzips! Got like 5 of those boots. Tecovas and other ropers. LBG. Been wearing Lemaire chelseas, Crux Deluxe johds, and Second/Layer sidezips lately.

Over the past 5 years I've phased out laces almost entriely, so now I'm in sidezips and loafers pretty much exclusively.

Other zip boots I like:

JL Freddi (I should think the suede would be up your alley @RegisDB9)

Completely different look, but i like Guidi side zips and chelseas. The heels are broader than CM footwear, but I don't think that they are very high, for the most part.

Thank you. This is great. I'm looking for a pair of side zips with a 40-45mm heel.

What are the boots in the 3rd picture - above the brown Savas pair?

The Husbands looks great as well.
