Old Asian Man is the whole reason Studio Nicholson exists.

"Nick Wakeman has a thing for Japanese pensioners. “I’ve got a massive crush on old Japanese men, their clothes, and that kind of gentleness that they’ve got,” the designer says excitedly. “Old folks in Japan will wear the same thing that they’ve been wearing for about 50 years. They launder their clothes to perfection and really look after them. There’s something quite delightful about an old man shuffling down the street, and the way they put themselves together.

Walked by a restaurant today and saw an older Asian man who looked like he was in his 70s. He was wearing a red leather biker jacket, sort of Balmain-ish, with cotton pants, a thin sweater, and minimalist sneakers.

You so rarely see older people take chances with their wardrobe, but I feel like it's much easier to pull off various fashions as you age. A younger guy in that same outfit might look corny, but it's super charming on an older person.

Reminds me of the time I walked out of my alteration tailor's shop and saw a thin, older man, possibly in his 60s, wearing head-to-toe black avant-garde. Was wearing some skin-tight black leather jacket, sort of like CCP, and then black jeans and black Guidi-ish boots. Dude looked so awesome.

That man's name? Ralphie Lifshitz the Sweater Knitter

Old asian women dress better than old asian men. My goal in life is to eventually end up dressing like some
老奶 going to the wet market.

I’m going to be in NYC this weekend for a suit fitting (cue SWD tailoring thread). Looks like there’s a possibility for a fair bit of snow, but otherwise reasonable winter temps. Am I good with Galways and a Polo coat with jeans for NYC snow or should I bring the bean boots and Patagonia down jacket etc.?

it's supposed to be exceptionally cold this weekend with lots of wind. would suggest dressing warm.

Good to know. I am going to bring a checked bag with my and my wife's bean boots and some inclement weather just-in-case stuff. Thanks guys, you've been very helpful! So far it looks like the storm might hold off from being particularly bad but we'll see; either way we'll be in NY ready for whatever comes!
