I have to assume that's a mistake or something. Who would risk a (reasonably) reputable and long-standing company on such a scam?
even if it was in good faith using the 'gift cards count' angle, they were only sent 10k max (two 1k certs per nomination, 5 noms max) and are getting t4s with 32k income listed. its literally the funniest scam i've ever seen in my life.

I agree it sounds too bold to be true. I haven’t paid too much attention to Dayton since 2015 or so, but I heard recently that they were drastically raising prices while simultaneously outsourcing boot production to a cheaper factory. That sounds like a potentially financially unhealthy company to me. I guess it’s possible that they are desperate?

That Dayton story is pretty wild. I don't know who would think they could get away with it if what's described is right... one last kick at the can before you torch the building for insurance?
