And an another question: What is the most "minimal" sole? I really like my penny loafers but if I could get them done heel-less, that'd be awesome.

What is the best way to contact Rancourt? They don't respond to my emails.

I'd say the soles on the venetian loafers the have on the site look like the lowest profile. It is single leather (which is also used on of their other shoes) and seems to have very little heel. http://www.rancourtandcompany.com/men-s-1/loafers.html

The rubber moc sole is low profile IMO with a good grip and comfort and has no heel at all. Pretty casual though.

And trying not to order the Blake boots. Suffering from boot overload.

Thanks Frank. My hunch was that the beefrolls are on a different last. Thats great. My beefrolls are just a bit loose, but perhaps not enough to warrant sizing down. Think I'll stick with the same size in the narrower 555 last.

Loafers are made on 555, which is a bit narrower and shorter than 800. 800 is used for boat shoes, ranger moc etc.

Good to know. I was taking a semi-educated guess. The sizing and materials of my Rancourts are pretty mixed, so it's hard to say if differences in fit are the result of the style, the last, or the leather.

The re-lasted loafers are ready to ship. Will post after they come in. And by all means, if you see me at the airport, feel free to shout out.

after wearing my loafer with the block-doted sole for a while, my thoughts is that the grip is nothing close to what the tempest sole offers.

Ordered my first pair of Rancourt's today: Ranger Moc in chocolate suede, honey colored Vibram lug sole, antique brass eyelet with chestnut laces and contrast stitching. Can't wait!

Thank you. Yes, honey RLH, which is very comfortable and has offered great traction so far. Haven't worn them in terribly adverse conditions, of course. The shell has held up well too. I'm not babying it.
