tv2177, those look very cool! My guess is that they wouldn't be as grippy as the Tempest? Looking forward to your report!

I'd like some Dainite soles, I think. Wonder if Rancourt has any plans to stock them.

yeah Dainite would be one of the best options for casual shoes. I hope they will consider using it in the future.

I don't think it's going to give as much grip as the tempest but we'll see how it goes.

Can someone clarify if the green CXL ranger moc combo is available as MTO? I can email them, but just thought I'd ask here first.

Could someone please PM me Taryn's email? I have not received any response after nearly two weeks to my MTO request. Thank you!

Can't "confirm" that it's available, but it shouldn't be any problem. As long as they have green CXL in stock (very likely), they will be happy to make you a green CXL ranger.

The boat shoes I ordered for my Dad for his Bday arrived today. (exactly 2 weeks from order date, standard shipping). I am pleased with the quality. I don't have any Sperry's on hand to compare them side-by-side, but there is nothing about the Rancourts that look cheap. The packaging is especially high-end. Nice box, flannel shoe bags for each shoe, plastic shoehorn with Rancourt insignia. The quality control was fine, no imperfections like you've come to expect with Aldens. I communicated with Kyle via email, his service was good. Not above and beyond, but not bad in any way, just good. They fit TTS. My Dad and I are the same size and I tried one on. If I had sized down a half size, they probably would have been too short. The width is slightly narrow, snug on my pinky toe, but I'm confident that would go away completely as they break in and the CXL stretches. (This was without socks, btw). So I'm pleased with them.

    Here they are:

Also, here are the pics of my Tod's that I promised a few days back. Sorry about the lighting, it was night time and I took the pics inside with incandescent light.

Love my Tod's BTW. I find the low profile sole to be conducive to wearing with shorts.

^^ The boat shoes look fantastic. That's a classic. Perfect accessory for a very classy boat. Sure your father will be very happy with them. And glad to hear the sizing was correct.

Thanks for the pics of the Tod's. They look great, and very comfortable.

Bakes11771, I think you have made the right decision.
Please let us know if your father likes the Rancourts.
Those Tods do look very nice.
I have considered buying a pair of Tods Driving Shoes before but was not certain how well this special style of sole holds up.
Is it your first pair of do you have experience with them?

PS: Please feel free to join lefty's dog thread, I'd love to get to know the buddy in the background of the boat shoe pictures.

Beautiful. Wish it had speed hooks, but still very hot.

Not sure if sppedhooks are an MTO option or not? IMO speedhooks are not really a necessity on this boot.

Rancourt also added two ring boots. Not sure how much love these are going to get on here.

We'll see what he says about them. He seems pretty much indifferent to everything. He is hard to shop for, for this reason.

I had the same reservation about the Tod's soles. Thats why I got the version with the solid 1 piece sole, and not just the little nubs. I figure it will take quite a while to wear through the nubs and the sole. Also, I don't wear them if I'm going to be doing a lot of walking, just for casual dinner parties, lounging around the house and such. I haven't had them very long, so can't say how fast they wear, but a friend of mine has the nubs only versions and he said they don't wear too fast. I'm sort of hoping that B. Nelson can put something similar on them when they need it, however I haven't been able to find any kind of "Tod's replacement sole" on the web. Any super thin rubber sole would be fine.

Please direct me to the dog thread. My dog is one of the few things I love more than shoes!

Can anyone explain the ring boot to me? I've never understood who wears these...I imagine they're only purchased by hipsters to wear while traveling to purchase moustache wax.
