It's firmer than crepe. But not as hard as leather. It is SLIGHTLY softer than Alden's commando IMO.I have been curious about that sole, is it firm or gummy?

Beautifully dark.
For me they're pretty interchangeable.Ranger Moc vs. Boat shoe on what occasion would you wear one over the other? I have Natural CXL boat shoes and was looking at the classic Ranger Moc in Carolina Brown. So boat shoe more with shorts and the moc with linen pants or khakis?

Correct. Only EE. If you're a true EEE you're likely going to have issues. I don't know of an 800 last from AE? There was an 809, or is this last you are referencing older than that? What shoe do you have that's on an 800 last?I think this would alleviate any chance of redundancy with my Natural CXL boat shoes.

800 last is the same as AE's 800 correct? Also Rancourt only goes to EE?

You MIGHT be able to get away with going up half a length, but i'd recommend passing based on your feedbackWell that sucks. Yes a true EEE and there are a number of AE EEE lasts that don't work due to width so maybe no Rancourts after all. A Florsheim EEE is actually painful and 1/4-1/2 inch not wide enough. Actually the only AE last (that I've tried) where the widest part of my foot doesn't extend over the sole is the B34.

Good for you. I unfortunately am still working on that lesson. I'm getting closer though.I've learned my lesson on buying shoes that don't fit just because I like the look of them.
