I have been curious about that sole, is it firm or gummy?

It's firmer than crepe. But not as hard as leather. It is SLIGHTLY softer than Alden's commando IMO.

Ranger Moc vs. Boat shoe on what occasion would you wear one over the other? I have Natural CXL boat shoes and was looking at the classic Ranger Moc in Carolina Brown. So boat shoe more with shorts and the moc with linen pants or khakis?

For me they're pretty interchangeable.

800 last is the same as AE's 800 correct? Also Rancourt only goes to EE?

Correct. Only EE. If you're a true EEE you're likely going to have issues. I don't know of an 800 last from AE? There was an 809, or is this last you are referencing older than that? What shoe do you have that's on an 800 last?

AE uses 800 and 114 handsewn lasts, same as Rancourt. Given that what is effectively Rancourt today used to be part of Allen Edmonds, I'd expect the lasts to be the same.

Well that sucks. Yes a true EEE and there are a number of AE EEE lasts that don't work due to width so maybe no Rancourts after all. A Florsheim EEE is actually painful and 1/4-1/2 inch not wide enough. Actually the only AE last (that I've tried) where the widest part of my foot doesn't extend over the sole is the B34.

You MIGHT be able to get away with going up half a length, but i'd recommend passing based on your feedback
