    Your shoes look fantastic!
Hoping the tempest sole is good for all around use; I do alot of walking with dogs.
    Are those lined?
    Eyelet type?

    Thanks.

    thanks.

tempest sole is pretty good for all around use IMO, but it will be out of stock till mid next month. Mine is lined with white eyelets.

Ivy loafer unboxing, sorry for the delay, I've just been very busy.

Again, this is full grain unlined kelly green suede, honey crepe sole, 10D

Those of you who know the quality and craftsmanship of Rancourt won't be surprised when I say this is a well constructed shoe. The suede is soft, comfortable, and otherwise surpassed my expectations.

Now, here's the downside. They don't fit . . . by a significant margin. This is not a criticism of anyone. My only hope is that by posting the details I can assist others who are likewise uncertain about sizing.

I corresponded directly with Kyle to set up this MTO. The dialogue on sizing began when I passed on my Brannock size. Kyle stated that Rancourt sizing doesn't correspond well with the Brannock and that I should download the Rancourt fit guide. I did this and relayed the measurements. As a comparison, heel to toe I measure 11C (though heel to ball I am 11.5 B/C). On the Rancourt fit guide (which only measures heel to toe), I measured just a hair over a 10 in length and just over a "C" in width. In response, Kyle suggested a 10D.

I was skeptical, but I trusted that Kyle knows his product and lasts. Really, I was left thinking that this must be a long, narrow last. I wasn't worried about it. However, after putting on the loafers, I immediately realized they were too short. My toes are jammed right into the tip of the shoe. When I lift my foot, the sole can't flex, and it compresses my foot.

Needless to say, I am disappointed. However, after expending significant energy dialing in my sizing on AE and Alden, I have shoe sizing fatigue. That is to say, I don't want to experiment with Rancourt sizing at this time. I'll probably come back to again maybe next year.

I don't want to let these loafers go, but don't be surprised if you see them on eBay or at your local Goodwill store (after all someone has to provide the fodder for the thrift store bragging thread).

man I am sorry for it not to fit. however it seems like your measure on brannock and Rancourt fit guide has about 1 size difference in both length and width, which is kind of weird. I measured 10.5D on brannock and the same on Rancourt's fit guid.

This loafer is such a bad ass I hope you can figure out a way to wear them.

It was my first foray into Rancourt. Some risk is implied. I checked the scaling on the fit guide very carefully before reporting any measurements. I'll hit it the next time. I'm cruising for some Viberg boots right now.

    Hi all!

we've been working with Rancourt for a bit more than a month now and I thought I'd let Styleforum know about our program. Now in Portland, ME we're offering Rancourt's MTO services with a hands on approach with dozens of swatches of leather, soles, and hardware down to the topthread. I'm working closely with Kyle on terminology and the ins and outs of each style and what is and isn't possible for a handsewn but part of the allure of the program is that if you find yourself in town you can get an all encompassing hands on with the materials.

This obviously works best if you come into the shop but I'm more than happy to back and forth over email or PMs on here about what I think does or doesn't work, leather combinations, etc. This is a learning experience for myself and an outlet to redirect some questions to me and free up Kyle's inbox a bit.

I'll be posting my custom's once I get the picture (uploaded it to the home computer. whoops!) Until then here's some of our stock samples and materials.

I got mine on a Vibram Cristy (white wedge) and love it. Great for rain.

I don't have the Cristy sole, yet, but I agree it looks like a nice all purpose sole.

Damn shame. Those Kelly suede loafers look great. Whoever gets them is going to be a lucky size 10. Hopefully you make your way back for some Rancourts after your foray into the fine boots of Vibergland.
