My custom made Blake boots came today and these things are absolute works of art. Many thanks for the Color 8 CXL + Montello Mini-Lug combo! My only regret is I think I should have sized down 0.5 as they they are a bit roomy in the toe and I'm getting a bit of slippage in the heel. Would heel/tongue pads help remedy this? Anyways, here's the pics:

Gorgeous. Color 8 and the natural sole is a great combination. Which eyelets are those?

If I may join the party . . . wearing mine today:

Roominess in the toe is appropriate for a boot, what's more important is that the joint of your toe is in the appropriate place for the flex point of the boot, and not in front of it. Are you wearing boot socks or thin socks? Boots should always be sized for wearing boot socks, and that will remove some slippage (even athletic socks are too thin). And heel slippage will go away as the sole breaks in.

I ordered my Blakes in my Brannock size and they fit wonderfully. My heel is slightly narrow and boney, and I can feel a slight amount of wiggle room in that part of the boot, but its not a problem at all. I find that last to be precisely true-to-size. If I had a heel that was in "normal" proportion to the rest of my foot dimensions, it would be as if the last was made for my foot. I wear them with socks slightly thicker than athletic socks, but not as thick as wool hiking socks.

Please do, make yourself comfortable. I have always thought that this thread needs more pics. Thanks for your contribution.

Ralph Lauren has a bunch of Rancourt-made shoes on sale. Bought a pair of these in orange for about $100 shipped. Lots of sizes available in their stuff, but I've only found that the unlined lace-ups will stretch enough for my wide foot. Some cool buckle loafers, some boat shoes, etc. Code FROST20 gets an extra 20% on the listed sale prices.

That's a really sweet makeup! Speedhooks and leather laces definitely get the nod :). That cap toe is slightly different , but I really like the perforations.

Hell of a deal on that boot right now.

So one of my co-workers gave me some Frye weatherproof dressing. Is this safe to use on the CXL? I was planning on buying some Montana Pitch Blend but if I don't have to I'll just use this stuff.

Nice. I think I'll save the money for some olive Ranger Mocs, and continue to rock these "crazy Blakes" in the meantime:

Durn. [IMG] Would have picked up some Eastlands from there. All the "normal" sizes are gone. Except for that suede captoe one. Don't like it.

All right, I need an opinion: Baxter ranger moc in natural cxl (pic from rancourt's instagram), or the ranger moc in khaki suede (pic from rancourt instagram)? I'm aiming for a comfortable, versatile pair of shoes I don't mind wearing when it's a little wet out (hence the RLH soles instead of a boat, camp, or leather sole), and I can't decide between the two. Anyone have any experience with their unlined khaki calico suede, or the difference between the RLH aspen and regular sole? These'll be my fourth pair of rancourts, which feels a bit ridiculous, but they all have different purposes.

    ^This.

What do you mean regular sole? Regular RLH?

There's the Ranger RLH sole (the one that has a heel cut out and a more crepe bottom) and the Aspen RLH sole (that has a flat, tread pattern bottom). I think some people use the R in RLH to stand for Ranger, but I think it stands for Reltex which is the factory that makes RLH soles.
