I am looking for some decent sport shirts. How does the ralh lauren regular line fit. I know the classic stuff is big in the body but how bout the slim fit. Looking for something to compliment the fit of a regular ralph bootcut jean.

Wait, are you looking for Ralph mainline, Ralph by Ralph, or Ralph for Jil Sander?

...

The different 'names' all fit differently because they're different cuts and styles of shirt, ie "Blake" fits like a bag, "Phillip" lesso so, and the "Classic" most of all. If you buy your Polo shirts IN a bag, you're getting the worst of the worst, generally. Don't do it. Buy the custom slim fits on line and sidestep looking like a (douche)bag.

In terms of polo shirts, if you must, get the slim custom fit ones and you'll have a decent-fitting shirt.

In general though, this forum only has patience for RRL's, Purple Label, and Rugby. The everyday label is just not gay enough.

The obsession with slim fit on this forum borders on silly at times. Some items of clothing are meant to be boxy, have always been boxy, and should stay boxy. Try to recast them in some au currant fashionable slim fit paradigm is ... well, merely being a slave to the fashion of the moment.

Want slim fit? Great! Buy clothes from designers with a slim fit vision. But don't berate the Brooks Bros, J Press, RL Polo's, Barbours of the world for making what they have always made.

Some of us have been wearing slim clothing even before it became trendy and will continue doing do when the trend becomes extinct.

Rugby can be tasteless... but I'm not sure it could ever be gayer than:

For everyone who gave honest advice thanks.

My issue is that I have a very athletic build. I wear a 44-46 jacket (and that's in an athletic cut suit) but truly have a 35 inch waist with muscular thighs. So many of the high end or european brands don't fit well on my. Or I fell like a big guy wearing small ****. I an 6'2 220 lbs...I look like a nfl strong safety basically. I have learned that some of the brands that have a classic fit end up looking tapered on me...hence my interest in RL. Example...Rag and Bone I wear a 2x but in RL shirts I wear 1x. RL polos I wear 2x but hugo boss polos I wear 3x. I will spend decent money for nice clothes but not over the top cash. RL purple label looks painted on...although a nice look on the "red carpet" not the image I want to give on dates. Looking for masculine stuff yet stylish. Thanks again for you guys help.

Funny thing about the RL site is that they depict everything as slim fit. They're models are athletic, some quite muscular, yet every shot of every shirt or sweater is nice and form fitting at the waist, which is obviously not true of most of their RL clothing. To fit most of those guys in the shoulders and chest, they have to pin the backs quite a bit to get that form-fitting look. Otherwise everything would be billowy.
