I wouldn't wait if I were you, as of the last major price drop, its become pointless to wait, especially when the down jackets were going for 60-ish bucks, that's pretty cheap dunno if it will get cheaper than it is now for most items.

rugby don't have any good stuffs left. My last purchase was corduroy blazer and grey vintage chino. The blazer is a bit of loose fit. But for $100 - I am not complaining. Man I will miss their chinos. w28 and l30. Perfect fit .

Are you talking about the brown belted blazer? If so, do you mean loose fit as in not tailored or loose fit as in not fitting true to size?

I think you mean its fit isn't the Newbury fit. It may require tailoring, but OTR its just a little loose compared to other Rugby jackets, you can say that every sport coat and suit is 'not tailored'

lol. true. but you know what I mean. we love our rugby tight fit.
anyway what is your take on club Monaco ? Visited their site for the first time. Looks quite polished. They seem to have 28 and XS and some made in us jackets and suits . Few nice stuffs there I must admit. Plus 20% off student discount. I may have to bother you for the code. They also said 20% off full price and sale with student discount. Have you tried their stuffs . I have a feeling they will have nice slim fit like rugby. :slayer:
I think I am ready to let rugby go now........

I'm going to seriously miss the non-horribly branded rugby stuff. Good price, great quality/construction and great fit for slim, young people.

CM is pretty decent too, especially since EVERYTHING gets discounted, every month or so and there's a constant influx of new things. They are a bit more grown up in the cut I'd say - and by that I mean a little less skin-tight and rakish, in general. The styling is more "modern" in the sense that it's usually more minimalistic and less trad/ivy/prep than Rugby, but generally slimmer fitting and more trendy than PRL mainline stuff.

Construction, ime, just doesn't feel *quite* as nice as Rugby (which I always felt was far better bang for buck than most PRL stuff) but it's still very nice quality, especially at the nicely discounted sale prices (always avoid paying retail). The few blazers and other pieces I have from there have surgeon cuffs, and they do unstructured, un-lined stuff for fairly cheap which is nice. Of the stuff I have from there, a trench and wool herringbone unstructured SC were my mainstays as I slowly started renovating my wardrobe, and I wore the shit out of them, but they held up really well and wore in very nicely. I made the mistake of paying retail on the SC, but to be honest it was totally worth it because it looks great, has lasted very well for almost daily wear for a year (well I guess it's almost 2 now) and I've enjoyed it immensely.

My main gripe with CM is their suiting tends to have a really awkward button stance. It works for some people's bodies/style, but it's just *meh* ime compared to the fantastic OTR fit I've experienced with Rugby suiting. This might be a personal thing, YMMV, but it's a concern I know quite a few others have had as well.

Kicking myself for not copping that Rugby Chesterfield topcoat and some cords/chinos when I had the chance, ditto for those sick green fox embroidered prince albert slippers, they were so massively on sale at the bleecker store. Oh well, live and learn.

Random weirdness: I found a Rugby pinstripe Suit Jacket orphan at a thrift store, BNWOT (pockets still basted shut, etc). I praised many jesuses that day. Perfect timing, because I snagged the matching pants for super cheap with all this glorious discount. So stoked on this haha

Yeah I've never really bought anything from CM, but 20% off student discount sounds cool.

From the last quarterly report it seems like its a growth brand that they are planning on expanding, which part of that expansion was to consolidate Rugby down, and focus on CM and D&S. So I expect big things from CM going forward, but I doubt we'll get things like Caruso suits from them for 450 on sale.

Here's hoping they make D&S less shitty mall-brand-like and move it a little more in the Rugby/RRL direction, quality wise at least. I'm always so underwhelmed when I come across most D&S stuff, jeans being the exception.

CM does sell Made in America lines of suits which are quite nicely made, and while it definitely isn't Caruso (but I never managed to find a Caruso/Rugby suit :( I missed that boat and found Rugby too late) or Caruso quality/cut, they're still quite nice. They also get discounted fairly regularly, which is even better [IMG]

What I really like about CM vs Rugby is the lack of Huge tacky branding/logos that covered a lot of Rugby items that would have been killer if not for that. My opinion, it's the branding/logos that killed Rugby. You can't charge upmarket prices on classier pieces, slap huge ugly logos everywhere of a brand without much heritage or prestige or anything and then expect people to line up to buy. If you wanted that, you'd buy those awful PRL polo that all the tasteless rich people seem to love (I'm looking at you obnoxious Guido/Arab guys with your supercars/BroMW M//3s and receding hairlines).

Does anyone know if the brick & mortar stores are still open? I know they've already closed in some places (I think Chicago?), but I'll be back in NYC soon and I want to see if I can go snag some gems that aren't online.
