I just received an e-mail informing me that Ralph Lauren will be holding a private sale beginning this Thursday, May 18, in stores and online. Sale prices are up to 40% off. Use promotional code MAY18 on May 18 only for an additional 15% off reduced prices.

40% + 15% is a big sale for Purple Label; do you think they will blow out the summer inventory this early?

I intend to call and ask, but I suspect selection of sale items will be very limited.

Summer merchandise typically goes on sale in July. This sale may be a good opportunity for the five SF members who do not yet own the Mackay, however.

Ah, but the Mackay comes in dark oak, black, edwardian and coffee suede. Man should not live by one alone.

All I know is, the last time Polo announced a sale like this, someone said something very similar. The next thing you knew we were all buying Edward Greens for 50% off. Happy hunting!

    P.s. what colour/shade is Edwardian?

That's me ... and a terrible tragedy it is. Unfortunately, my size is out of stock on the Web site. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Pay not attention to those horns on my head, there just for show.[IMG]

Edwardian falls in between burnt pine and chestnut, it's stunning.

Here's the deal on the sale, at least in NYC. All the shoes, EG and C&J's included are 40% off plus an additional 15%. That brings EGs in at $433 plus tax which also includes the shoe trees. The C&Js are $300 plus tax.

I take it Edwardian and suede are only available in store? I can only see the dark oak and black on their web site.

The Mackays in edwardian for $433+tax? Sounds like a deal to me. Will brick and mortar stores take orders over the phone on sale day?

Yes, though I can only speak for the Mansion in NYC as to the availability of edwardian and suede.

It's probably worth a call. After all, who would have thought that Asprey UK would take phone orders on sale items to ship to the States?[IMG]

Mmmm... Darlton for ~ USD300.... but the Mackay is sleeker. ...So much for getting a TRD exhaust. I think I will be getting shoes instead [IMG] I am trying to find the old threads... how is the sizing on the Mackay again? I am a 10.5 to occassionally 11

A couple of questions from an EG uninitiated:

    1) Are all of the Purple Label shoes typically EG manufacture? Basically, if they're expensive ($850+) and "Made in England" they are EG?

    2) How do the EG sizes run as compared to the C&J? I have Darlton wingtips in 8.5D. Should I aim for the same size on the Purple Label shoes, or shoot a half size above or below?

Unfortunately, there is no store nearby, so I have to either guess well, or order two pair and return one.

    Thanks!

I have the Purple Label Mackays as well as the Darltons in plain toe and wing tip. I have found that all three run true to size and have the same size in all three.
