Rain shoes/boots for the summer

I work at a very casual office (everyone pretty much wears jeans at least once a week, some women wear skirts and sandals, my boss has worn graphic t-shirts to work, etc). I am looking for a shoe or boot that is breathable but still water resistant during hot summer rain storms. I've looked into rubber and it doesn't seem breathable. I also thought about going a closed toe or mesh sandal route, but I think it would be more pleasant to keep my feet dry. Thoughts? Thanks.

How water resistant are you looking for? My chromexcel equivalent Thursday boots have done very well in shedding rain and have good traction when wet, but I would avoid stomping in puddles like you could with duck boots. Any boot in chromexcel will be breathable and not absorb water much.

Just enough to protect me walking around parking lots at my apartment, the gym, office, urban chores, etc. Also I should mention I drive a manual transmission, so anything more than ankle high will inhibit my ability to drive. Or I will have to change shoes in the car.

I am more concerned with overheating in any potential shoe, such that I typically wear linen loafers without socks to the office to help my feet ventilate.

I am thinking of the Lincoln (https://thursdayboots.com/products/mens-shoe-lincoln-midnight-suede?variant=12397919633498) but the leather tones are a little too dressy.

The natural and brown are in chromexcel and Thursday chrome and would shrug rain just fine. You'll probably get more rain on your socks with loafers but that's a trade-off between airflow and watertightness.

If you're looking for the most casual option of those, natural chromexcel apparently picks up patina really quickly.

There's also plenty of other companies that make great chromexcel loafers, depending on your price point. The chukka may also be low enough to drive a manual, but the last time I drove anything with a clutch it was a tractor wearing work boots

Boat shoes also tend to be made of somewhat water resistant leather, but I have no personal experience with them.
