Rain boots and El Niño

    El Niño is here. What rain boots should I get? There were giant, inescapable puddles several days ago, which are a lot less fun than they used to be. Rubber vs. leather? Mid-calf vs. knee high?

    I usually wear Doc Marten boots in wet weather. The cheap plastic like leather is really water repellent and I don't feel bad about getting them wet or muddy. More practical than true rain boots or Wellington's for me as they don't like I'm going pheasant hunting or like I'm 5 years old when I go indoors.

    Been deliberating over this for weeks myself. My wife like Sorel Chayennes but they are too utilitarian for rainy days in the city, my preference being for the classic Hunter wellies.

    At any rate I am not allowing myself to suffer another Japanese rainy season without proper footwear.
