R&B and BoO Made in China?

Since when?? I was browsing around a webstore and the two companies have pieces marked down from 500-700 range and they're noted as made in China. Maybe I'm behind the times but I thought these two companies were all about made in USA hence their higher prices.

I'm not sure since when, but I bought a R&B sweater from Barney's about 6 months ago that was made in China. I bought a pair of R&B cords last month, also from Barney's, and that was made in USA.

every time this comes up the two sides argue different points. most people understand that made in china doesn't mean lower quality, but it does mean cheaper to produce, and moving production to china while maintaining prices set by us labor costs is lame.

rag & bone moved their production to china like 3 or 4 seasons ago. really disappointing. they still make some of their knits in peru but they've raised the prices 3-4x over what they were 2 years ago.

and actually uncontrol, country of origin does hold meaning. yes it's not the be all end all of a garment, but when you're trying to justify constant price increases (which both band and rag & bone are guilty of literally every season), it's hard to cite manufacturing when you've moved your manufacturing to a cheaper location.

anyway r&b has gone so far down hill. i bought a jacket from them this season, but most of their stuff is just **** these days.

r&b has consistently raised prices. the raglan made in peru tee i bought in 2008 for $60 is now $140.

Weird- r&b sold shirts made in both China and the US in f/w11, with the US shirts slightly pricier (like $250 versus $200). I had to return a MIC shirt that was a gift - my gf took it for granted r&b was still entirely made in the US. They are still receiving some residual benefits from their loud proclamations that this was the case back in the day.

I don't see why Unc bothers to post in these threads. Obviously country of origin matters to some and not others; just ignore the subject if it irritates you. You aren't adding anything by getting pissy every time the subject comes up

For me, I'd rather not purchase anything made in China for a variety of reasons (labor laws, environmental regulations, supporting US manufacturing, being able to keep an eye on where the money is going, etc). These reasons have nothing to do with quality - I'm old enough to remember when "made in the USA" was a joke indicating **** quality, a stance I haven't entirely abandoned. I'm not interested in convincing anyone of my perspective or preference, that decision is up to each of us individually.

No idea what Mauro is talking about but the point of my post was that I never knew when BoO and R&B changed their production practices and was looking for an answer. And yes, I'm not a fan of inflated prices for a product that is relatively cheap to make. I'm willing to pay that mark up to support quality US made products.

i haven't seen any MIC boo. is it the mainline stuff (shirting), or the polos?

R&B shipped their stuff out years ago. at first it was just knits, now its almost everything.

yeah i wasn't directing my comment at you bud, just to people like uncontrol that assume that when this topic comes up it's a quality issue.
