Quoddy Maliseet — shoe trees?

Hello, first post for me here, though I've had a look on here quite a lot over the past few years, which made me think this would be the place to ask the following:

I just got my first pair of Quoddy moccasins [Maliseet / Navy Chromexcel] in J. Crew Men's Store. I tend to keep my formal shoes [Church's etc] with wooden shoe trees, and was wondering whether it would be advisable to use these on my Quoddys? Might they actually damage them?

Thanks for looking and thank you in advance for any replies.

On the contrary, they'll look great longer, I've got some 4 year old Grizzly Mocs that are in great shape because I've used tree from day one. At current prices, Quoddy are no longer beaters.

i've found quoddys to turn up at the toe from use, i don't know if that problem is specific to my pair but trees do help me from getting elf's feet.

Thank you for the replies chaps, much appreciated. Got them tucked up in their dust bag with some wooden shoe trees now.

Wore them for the first time the other day; as well as looking cool, they could be the most comfortable shoes I own. I've got a feeling more pairs Quoddys might be in order, the only problem being that my wife knows what they cost!

Thanks again, D

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
