Interesting points, but surely UO approached Quoddy rather than the other way round. I'm sure they'd happily make a custom order for any shop, just as they do any individual. On the UO point, here in the UK I've herd that they've started stocking EG..

How do you think South Willard feels about the UO thing? I think I would be kind of upset, but then again I don't understand the business.

Just ordered a pretty standard pair of unlined brown boatshoes with the white deck sole in a 13D. Anyone know how long it will take to get these? Does quoddy keep stock of standard sizes or do they wait for each order before making them?

My wife ordered two pairs for Summer 09 and gave up any hope of receiving them, if I recall they took 3 1/2 months and by the time she received them NYC was bracing for Fall. Nice shoes though!

Still wondering if anyone has experience ordering fairly standard models/sizes?

I called Quoddy and they said their sizing methods are the same.

Yes -- and I've read about it happening to others on styleforum. I actually peeled it up in one of my pairs and replaced it with a full-length footbed I like better. I can understand why it would tick people off. But honestly, I don't think it reflects on the workmanship -- they glue it in place (it's NOT part of the moc construction), and you can easily re-glue it if you like.

Also, I think insoles are more prone to loosening when you go sockless. When a bare foot warms up it kinda "sticks" to the insole.
