Can you do special stuff with the quoddy custom orders?

I really hate white boat shoe soles, so would love to get some of the chukka's in the same peanut suede without the boat shoe side lace and with a red brick sole.

South willards brown suede brick sole blucher is what I'm liking most in the off the shelf stuff.

I like O'connells penny loafer, but I would prefer it with a different sole and in say, a grey or charcoal suede.

Would also kop some of the venetian slip ons in a chocolate leather and dark brown sole.

I could see myself getting quite a few different pairs if I can do some cool custom orders.

Can anyone who owns a pair of chukkas comment on the sizing? Should I go down half a size or full size down? I noticed someone said full size down from their sneaker size for the boat shoes, would it be the same for chukkas?

For reference: My true size is 9 (Nikes, Vans, etc). Chucks (Size 8, Jack Purcells 8.5)

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

get size 8

just wondering if anyone who's ordered directly from quoddy recently has had issues with their order?
I finally got my replacement pair after a month of waiting. was told it was going to take longer because they were recutting them in burgundy, ended up sending me brown with no explanation other than that "oh we don't have the burgundy in yet" (then why'd you tell me you did and ask me to wait longer...)
was told the burgundy would be done in a weeks time if i wanted to send back the browns. waited a week. no response, started wearing my brown bluchers and received an email at the end of that week saying the burgundies were ready to be shipped to me. explained i never heard back from them after nearly 2 weeks so started wearing them, was told "we'll give you a good deal on these to make up for it" asked how much, then told they still weren't cut and they'd let me know asap. WTF. (this was 2 weeks ago)
i understand they are a small company, but this is kinda ridiculous. its one thing to be overwhelmed with demand, another thing entirely to constantly misinform your customers.
i'm considering ordering a pair of chukkas, but am seriously wondering if this is a good idea at this point. does anyone with recent experience with custom orders have anything to say?

also, does anyone have experience with the insoles on the bluchers coming unglued? after less than a months wear both of mine are falling out of the shoes. if anyone knows a good product to re-adhere them please let me know

while i was frustrated about buying a pair with two major problems, having to send back, wait, etc, i've gotta say i've rarely dealt with customer service that is as awesome as this. they really do go above and beyond to make things right.

I came home today to find a box from quoddy on my porch. I opened it to see a pair of burgundy bluchers. I have literally no idea what is going on now, but i am happy.

Wow, your insoles stayed in for a whole month? The ones in my blue boat shoes came out on day 2 I think. That's ok though, still a great shoe and I've been really happy with them overall. It does sound like their customer service leaves a little to be desired but the craftsmanship if very good overall. I got mine from South Willard and will probably only buy them from stocking stores since I'm not patient enough to deal with a bunch of delays.

I was planning to get a pair of the bluchers, but am unsure of sizing. Can someone please advise? I wear the following in these shoes....

Common Projects Court Shoe - 41 (feels slightly loose)
Common Projects Achilles - 42 (can fit into 41, but it feels too narrow)
Converse Chucks - 8 (felt slightly tight at first, later felt perfect)
Converse Purcell - 9 (size 8.5 felt far to narrow, 9 feels perfect)
Campers - 42 (feels perfect)
Red Wing boat shoe - 8.5

Basically size 9 is my "safe" size that always works. But nearly in nearly half the shoes I try on, size 8.5 is better.

So should I get size 9 or 8.5 in the bluchers?
