Just an idea, but maybe you can let your cobbler remove the speed hooks and put eyelets all the way up?
This is the idea actually. But I don't have trustable local cobbler so I should send to C&J or someone else abroad. Thus, It could be doable when I'll need other shoe repairs.

The Coniston with black edition treatment is really appealing!
I agree. Last winter in snow the dainite sole was useless on my chukka boots. These look like they may be a bit more surefooted in the snow. As yet I only have chukka boots, these would fit that gap for bigger boots.

I actually had the same issues with my high boots that are eyelets all the way up. Trust me, I know it seems too simple to work, but the berluti knot is the solution.

I picked up a pair of these during the summer sale. They are fantastic and on sale a no brained. Sorta wish I had grabbed the suede pair on sale too.
