Opinions..... Best* C&Js in the current line up? Or if you had say £1000, what would you get?

*I know this is subjective, why I'm asking :)

Up to GBP 1000 for a single pair, or broken into different pairs? :)

If I had £1000 to spend at C+J, assuming change is not useful, I would buy a:

Cordovan Pembroke (brown or burgundy) - £579.14 after VAT is taken out to US.
Chiltern Snuff Suede - £320.82 same as above
Shipping £30 x 2 to ship seperately and avoid getting customs charged.
= £959.96

If I had to buy only one pair I would buy .... probably either the Cordovan Pembrokes or Whiskey Cordovan Harlechs.

I don't necessarily think these are the "best" of the current lineup, but are what I would buy.

I'm awful partial to the pebble grain Conistons as "best".

Pembroke dark brown wax calf and Coniston rough out brown.

If I had another £1000 I’d be looking at Walton 2 black and Newquay snuff.

And if Skye still was offered they would be my first choise.

Speaking as someone who has literally done this...
I bought a c and j for Purdey off Mr P for £330 (I think..)
Plus a Galway 2 for £430 including delivery..

would I be better served going shell and a meal out? Maybe, but it’s all subjective to what styles you like and what else you own.

I would probably go for more or less the same as you.

I ended up getting the discontinued brown shell Cardigan as an alternative to the shell Pembroke and for me personally (but maybe not others) it works better than the Pembroke as the rounded toe and metal eyelets make it more casual. Also the Dainite sole is more my preference although I have nothing against leather sole.

And I am biased but I consider the Coniston’s one of their best. So simple and effective.

Can’t argue with those two. Shame about the meal you missed out on though?

One of the CJ Paris is suppose to have very good sale (like 50 off), though they won't tell you what's in stock, you have to ask the model you like and they will tell you if it's available in your size (none in mine), and apparently someone tried as well (was in his size) but they won't ship outside europe

Hello folks,

I am looking to organize a GMTO with the Crockett & Jones Store at 69 Jermyn Street, London. The order requires a minimum of 6 pairs to be made of the same shoe, obviously different sizes. I am looking for a total of 12 slots (for an additional discount in price), or more - However, they will only accept multiples of 6.

I have inquired about the following:
Crockett & Jones Galway (U-Tip Boots) in Dark Brown Shell Cordovan.

Please read the following specifications carefully:
Model: Galway 2 (Based Off this Model)
Upper: Dark Brown Shell Cordovan
Last: 325
Width: Standard UK E (US D)
Eyelets: 4 pairs of eyelets & 4 pairs of speed hooks
Edging: Antique Brown
Sole: Double Leather
Welt: Storm Welt

Please refer to the pictures below for a better idea of what the boots will look like. Except these will have four sets of eyelets, like the Galway 2, as opposed to the five sets of eyelets from the pictured Gianni model made for Ralph Lauren.

Cost for one pair:
£1100 (~£916.63 after excluding 16.67% VAT, as of today around $1156.70 for the US folks) plus £30 shipping.

Cost for a group of 6:
£975 (~£812.47 after excluding 16.67% VAT, as of today around $1025.45 for the US folks) plus £30 shipping.

Cost for a group of 12:
£850 (~£708.31 after excluding 16.67% VAT, as of today around $893.98 for the US Folks) plus £30 shipping.

This order will be placed through the Crockett & Jones Store at 69 Jermyn Street, London. So please feel free to contact the store via phone or email, provided below, should you have any questions about price and other details I may have left out. I look forward to filling in the spots. If you’re interested, please enter your size, and private message me your email address so I can forward the info to Chris and Basil at Crockett & Jones. Cheers!

It's like a guy on street corner in New York or London, selling watches out of a trench coat. "Psst, hey buddy. what kind are you looking for? Probably have it right here"

You should also post this in the C&J MTO thread if you haven't already. Galways in cordovan have been proposed before and possibly made up, so might be hard to get participants.
