I really hate when stockist use the generic C&J photos .. Would much appreciate some effort in photographing the actual product to provide a better feel of the batch they got ..

Had good experience ordering my Harlech's from them.

Had to return a pair of Harlech to them for bad quarter alignment. They tried to educate me about, I quote, "artisan shoes" that can have flaws like that ... Almost a 1/4 inch misalignment is not even close to being acceptable.

Yeah, 1/4 inch is quite large. On one of my boots there was a slight misalignment, but not enough to warrant an exchange/return. To be honest on shell C&J I tend to notice slight misalignment more often than not.

For the Sasquatch-ish among us-

I plan to order a 12 1/2 Westbourne on the 360 last tomorrow and am looking for a little reassurance. I wear a size 13 Loake Kempton in the 26 last and it is at least a half size to big. I'm a 13 and 3/4 B on the Brannock for length and width. Any thoughts around this? Two days of reading threads on here makes me think yes, but I have seen no posts on 13's and such. Plus, I'm constantly distracted by the pics and lose my focus... Help appreciated.

You're in good company, I wear a 12.5 in the 360 last. I am not personally familiar with the Loake Kempton, but my experience has consistently been that C&J run smaller than most english makers- a 12 in C&J is listed by the C&J as a 46. What you would be buying would be a 47, which is in line with my preferred size for boots with thicker socks.

I'd venture a 1/2 size down in C&J would fit a full size smaller than your Loake Kemptons, but I'd be weary about buying without the ability to return.

Yes, I would use their direct mail order option so I could return them if necessary- it sounds like I am on the cusp. Your post was very helpful to me- thank you!

I own the loake Kempton in 8.5 UK and plenty of CJ in different lasts in 8.5 or 9.

Kempton are a snug fit but considering is suede they are still very comfortable. Same size in CJ is a snug fit as well, if not suede it might be too snug for me.

Long story short I think CJ and loake have comparable fit, if your Kempton in 13 are too big then 12.5 for CJ should be the right choice.

No problem- against my better judgement I just purchased Pembrokes in a size 12 from Ben Silver (thank you to whomever on this thread happened to post about Ben Silver) at a deeply discounted price. This is in part to solidify my sizing expectations for a forthcoming order from Foster & Sons new RTW line (which is quite appealing- I might add), as the remainder of my C&Js are from BB and RL. I have heard rumor that BB & RL do odd things with sizing and last selection.

I think they will likely be small, but at the price they’re easy to flip and serve a purpose in their own right. While I typically wear a 13 in US sized shoes, with C&J I expect a 13.5 (12.5 UK) is the prudent choice for me. I’ll know for certain Monday and would be happy to update you then.

I too am “on the cusp”.
