Last week I wore my AE 2019 trunk show shoes to start out the year. Seems like a good way to make sure shoes stay in the rotation so this week I decided to do a CJ week:

I sadly had to sell my Connaught. 7 E was just way too generous in the waist. Even tongue pads didn't help all that much. I didn't try 6.5 E, as that might have worked. This 378 last is awesome for people like me who have narrow heels, narrow middle and a wide ball. I was worried that the Danite might make the shoes less forgiving, but it's the opposite. I actually feel these are more comfortable than my previous pairs and they have a bit of bounce when walking.

I did a little experiment to compare the Connaught with the Consul by Church’s. The former were given a new home. The leather felt inferior and caused me pain. A pinching feeling at the top of my foot. Similar to every other pair of oxfords from Crockett & Jones. I now only have boots from this maker.

I am not in the market for such boots, but I would choose the Galway.

Not me. I love captoes and hence also have Harlechs.

I don't know why, but the Galway 2s look better to me in the original grain leather.

Same here. Galway's an iconic boot, but so is the Harlech. I'd definitely get a pair of whiskey Galway if C&J made it a standard offering, but if I had to pick one I'd go with Harlech. My favorite boot, along with my Alden color 8 NST.

The Connaughts seem to work well for me but I never got around to trying the Consul. I would have definitely considered one had I not got a really good deal on the Connaught.

They’re all stamped like that on the inside where the sock liner ends. The 5 is for the width E.
