Could I ask how the Pembroke compares on the different lasts please?

It depends a bit on your foot, but generally speaking forget to wear the same size for the pembroke in 325 last and the pembroke in 317

the 325 is E fitting, while the 317 is G fitting.
In my case I had to size up 1 full size from the 317 G.

The 325 E is very tight, at least for me, and being a brogued model does not help to feel them comfier with the time passing; so my advice is, if you feel this model tight since the beginning, just leave it and go for a bigger size: half size or 1 size up as happened to me.

Just got the Pembroke on the G, 317 last. Great fit but a heavy shoe. Does anyone have any thoughts on how long a C&J brogue like the Pembroke will take to break in?

Fantastic! I wonder if I could fit that model. If I wear Vass 44 H (P2), Alden 10.5 3E (Barrie), AE 10.5 3E (65), Bonafe 10 H (946), would I take size 10 G on this last?

I take a 44 P2 Vass (regular fitting) and a 10 E Barrie and these Pembroke's are spot on for length against these two but definitely wider and more overall volume.

For those of you who have 317 in G fitting, what sizes/widths do you wear in other lasts and other makers? Trying to determine whether the G width would be a US E or EE.

Having bought both recently I feel that the G on 317 C&J Pembroke is a touch wider than the Alden E fitting PTB on the Barrie last.

What lengths do you compare?

I'm definitely a 3E in Barrie last, E width is too tight. :(

Both with size 10. The C&j seems just a touch longer than the Barrie.

Thanks. Ok, it sounds like there's a chance these will be too narrow, even in G.

Hi gents, cross post from the RL thread, need a bit of advise on these bad boys - got them off Yoox at amzing price and love them at first sight

They fit really nice when i tried them on, but there is a bit of heel slipage & a bit roomy at the toe box when walking - will these go away when i fully break in (these have double leather) - this hypothesis work really well with all my other shoes/boots - just not sure with loafer

Thanks for the help

Lindrick GMTO: Only one slot left!

Gentlemen,

As of now we only have one slot left on the Lindrick GMTO. The details are:

  • Style: Lindrick
  • Last: 325
  • Width: E
  • Colour: dark brown shell cordovan
  • Sole: Double leather
  • Welt: Storm
  • Eyelets: Metal + speedhooks
  • Price: 583.33 pounds excl. VAT, or 700 incl. VAT

Shoe trees will be an extra 50/60 pounds (excl./incl. VAT), and shipping will be 10 pounds for the UK and 30 pounds for EU and the states – the rest of the world I believe will be around 50 pounds.

    1000

Some more very appetizing photos can be seen here.

This is the very last chance to join a GMTO of this boot no longer in production and even for the old price (before C&J's current price increase). If interested in the last slot kindly send me a PM asap, and the order will be placed next week - and you will have the bots in about 12 weeks time – just in time for autumn :slayer:

    Cheers,
    SKM

While you're right that it is a pattern imprinted over older calfskin, that process does make it a harder wearing shoe and more weather resistant. There's a reason it is a common material on casual English shoes. If you call C&J for example and tell them you want a shoe with good water resistance this is what they are going to recommend to you...

Any calf that is imprinted, rolled or pressed....makes its pores more oclussive. I think that is the reason for its water resistance (and the use of waxes of course)
