Thanks for the fine suggestions gentlemen. It looks like my final decision will be between Skye or Harlech, likely in cordovan. Either way I don't think I can go wrong. Won't be purchasing for a little while, but will keep you posted.

Coniston is great for sure. However, they are not versatile as the boots mentioned above because of the grain leather and light color.

I'm not sure how the CAD is doing against the GBP, but right now is a good time to buy as the USD is strong against the GBP.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately I've made a commitment to not make any clothing purchases for 2017. I know, why would anyone do such a thing?

The hope is that there will be a fantastic pair of Crockett and Jones boots waiting for me at the at the end of the darkness.

Could you get out of that if you sold something to pay for it?

Hmm.. I like you're way of thinking.

But seriously, I'm actually enjoying the abstinence so far as it's giving me a chance to reflect on my wardrobe (as modest as it is) and really give some thought as to what will be the most worthwhile acquisitions later on. And my bank account's thanking me too.

How I feel after six months of no new clothes could be a different story! :butbut:

Hi Barth, sorry but what do you mean? I like to use different polishes, wax etc and will really mix it up. No real rhyme or reason, just what is at hand and how the mood takes me :)

Quick question for you guys. Was trying out some CJ boots earlier today in a department store in Germany. Islay and Skye.

I then came across a clearance boot that was tan color, windtip boot similar to the aforementioned, for $400. The guy said they are tan Islays.

Can someone help me out, can't seen to find these online. Are they islays from earlier season possibly?

Are they a good deal at $400? Thanks.

Could be a store make up and maybe why they are on clearance. It sounds like a very good deal. Do they ship to the us and have a 10UK? :)
