There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Yeah, ZUG was a waterproof grained leather made by a Scottish tannery (W&J Martin) that was traditionally used for veldtschoen shoes. That tannery is no longer in business therefore ZUG is no longer available, not the 'official' stuff anyway. The oak wax hide C&J use for the Snowdon is also waterproof but not a grain. Not sure if there are currently waterproof grained leathers on the market.
I'd be up for a GMTO as long as a waterproof leather is used and the boot is done with a full bellows tongue.

    -edit-

FYI, the tannery shut down in the 80's

and in 1992 the trademark for ZUG expired which is why there are various 'ZUG' currently available. These will be waterproof, hard-wearing grain leathers.

^ And a faux captoe. [IMG]

The point about the oak wax hide is important - I think it's more resilient than the scotch grain. I believe C&J offer some other color wax hide leathers. Recall a darker brown last time I was at NYC store.

^^ I'm only interested in a waterproof leather and full-bellows too, not sure re the cap-toe...

I've been told it'll take a 'few days' to get a reply from the factory regarding the availability of zug

While we are waiting for the reply from the factory - can anyone help explaining what special about the "full belows tongue" in plain English - thanks

The faux captoe would be great addition

A full bellows tongue is closed all the way to the top of the boot and therefore offers more protection against the elements.

A half-bellows tongue is only closed to half-way.

In the first two pics the tongue is attached all the way up to the top of the boot. The leather folds to allow you to get your foot in. The half bellows tongue is not fully attached.

On the full-bellows versions the tongue is attached all the way up to the top eyelets.

^ Yes but I think it's even clearer on the first pic where you see that the tongue is flush with top of boot.

I believe the discussion was for a veldt snowdon. I would imagine a danite sole. I would like to see speed hooks and blind eyelets.

So they don't have anything more comparable to a Ridgeway or Commando sole?
