That price jump some years ago though is interesting- anyone knows why (in a general sense) it happened? and did it manifest itself in a quality jump also?

I always understood that it's becoming increasingly harder to find quality skins from which to make fine shoes. The primary product of bovine farming is of course beef not it's skin for leather products, therefore farmers will do everything to increase the yield of beef. Crudely put fatter calfs mean greater stretch/growth marks hence poorer quality skins.

Therefore skins have to be sourced increasingly selectively from a dwindling list of tanneries which is one of the factors in prices rising of fine footwear.

I know that C&J use the same tannery for supply as do EG.

C&J stopped selling to plal.com which offered the shoes very cheaply (probably due to complaints from other retailers). Pediwear offers price match - 5%, so there were 2 great cheap sources. No change in quality, just suppliers.

Actually I liked that you have a stockroom-like set up inclusive of boxes but your idea works too [IMG]

    Jason,

Where did you get the storage units? They are perfect for men's sized shoe boxes.
