They just dropped sale items to 60% off.

That said, there might be returns. I kopped a pair of Lingfields for $249 last year.

I'm sure there was a period of time in which -some- pairs of Hallams were on sale for $229. How many pairs, and for how long, are anyone's guess. For all I know, it was one pair for 10 minutes. :)

Dang. I got the Maltons this year, and have cheap Cliffords and Wicklows from previous Barney's sales. I don't really "need" a brown Hallam but I couldn't have passed it up at that price.

You and me both, brother. I'm not looking particularly hard for a brown captoe right now, but I have the Hallam in black, and it's a fantastic shoe. At $229, why the hell not, right? At the very least, you could probably flip those puppies on eBay or B&S for a small profit.

That's the issue right there. Who knows how many pairs they had for that lowest price but many times ebay stores scoop that stuff up. Similar to ticket brokers getting good priced tix.

True, but I guess I'm fine with it in principle. That is how the market handles liquidity.

Was really hoping FedEx would be at my door today, or may still come today, but no sign yet! Flew home from Dallas a couple hours ago and was praying there'd be a nice box on my porch.

I placed the PS order for Islays on Wed night and only received the initial email order confirmation. Shipping was 1-3 days, so if they processed early on Thursday then maybe I have it today being 1000 miles from NY. Or maybe not and it's here next week...but then can't enjoy this weekend!

Congrats! I went back and forth with your boot (10/9) and just didn't pull the trigger. I'll probably regret it, oh well, your gain. Post some pics when you get them!

They are running out quickly of the Islays. Had like 6 or more sizes a few days ago including the 13/12 I bought. Now only 11/10 and 12/11 left.

I have the Hallam in black too. I'm curious how Barneys sized these though. I tried the Barneys Tetbury in calf last sale and the US9.5D was longer and more narrow than all 3 pairs of my UK9E C&Js on the 348 last. It's like they were UK9.5D or something. (And the US10D was wwaaayy too long in comparison to my UK9Es.) Maybe I was just unlucky. If the Barneys Hallams were also sized oddly on the 348, I'm comforting myself by thinking I wouldn't have been able to get a good fit anyway.

Did anyone get the Barneys Hallam this sale? If so, do you have other 348 last shoes to compare them to? Just curious.

I bought Barney's Tetbury in calf earlier this year. A few weeks ago I bought some Hallams and some suede Tetbury when the sale started. I got 10.5US in all of them and they all fit how I expected.

The weird thing though was earlier this year I also bought those dark brown suede George boot style (can't remember the C&J name) on the 348. They felt quite a bit bigger than the Tetbury so I exchanged for a 10US. The 10 felt slightly snugger than the Tetbury 10.5 but not a whole half size.

BTW, I remember checkinng Barney's site a few days ago when the Hallams were still $349 or something like that. They only had one size, I think 8US. Likely just a pair that made it to $229. Of course there were/are probably some pairs in stores.

    Whatever happened to tacobender?

The box says 11D and inside the shoes say 11D.

zippyh, do you have any UK sized 348 last shoes? Just wondering how your US sized Barneys Hallams and Tetburys compared to UK sized shoes.

Hi, guys. I want to buy CJ Northcote.

What size would I be in?

Here are a few of my sizes:
AE 65 Last: 7E(bit tight because of width)
Paraboot avignon : 7.5(comfortable with width but little long for my foot)

and I have rather high arches.

Nope, the only pair of UK sized C&J I have are Harlechs on the 341 in 9.5UK.

Did you go for your American size when you ordered these?

    Thanks

Oh well. I still never figured out what the deal was with the Barneys Tetbury sizing compared to UK size after the sale last June. I was hoping you had a UK 348 last for comparison.

FWIW, I'm a US 10E in the AE 5 last and I wear a UK 9E in all my UK sized C&Js. I don't have any AE 5 last shoes anymore, but at one point I think I measured and a UK 9E in the 348 last was actually a bit wider than a US 10E on the AE 5. No experience with Paraboot. I would guess a UK 6E would fit you in the Northcote.
