Interesting. Certainly doesn't appear that way in this pic, but I'll take your word:

I do, regularly. The fact is that pants cover over the speed hooks- most people won't even realise you're wearing boots, for those that do they're a very stylish and non-flashy design, and the dainite soles aren't anything as like as chunky as commando soles.

Do C&J ever produce designs in burgundy or navy calf? I'm very fond of my Lowndes and my Northcote, but one of the few holes in my shoe lineup is for shoes in colours other than black, brown and tan.

I've seen some great MTO versions commissioned by resellers in Europe (there was one in particularly in Sweden or Denmark, the name of which I can't remember, which had some in great colours).

However, in the main, I think that they only have a few models in burgundy, and most of those are more casual, or country, shoes or tassel loafers.

The only business-like option that comes in a burgundy is, I think, the "Westfield" on the 341 last.

Edited to add - A quick look at the C&J website shows that they apparently do the "Cavendish" tassel loafer in both burgundy shell cordovan, and navy shell cordovan:

C&J granted use of their name to a South African shoe manufacturer. Link

great link. I think we take for granted the current overall health of high-end shoe companies. many have gone bankrupt over the years. hell, even EG was near ruin back in the 80s until it was saved by a wealthy investor. Carmina also struggled and went bankrupt or was near bankrupt

I have some 9D Marlow Penny's in the older lighter cigar with only 4 miles on them. They were purchased as a backup. Truth is... These are built like tanks so back up is redundant .. PM me if interested... Wanted to offer SF'er first before they hit the bay. Will price to MOVE as I am on a MTO that need funding....

Still undecided on these, can't decide whether to keep them or get the Cheaney Mallory boot for the winter
