That's a whole tree with a handle!!
Love it. Mine are just ticking over for two months of wear...your picture gives me something to aim for.
Hartland, charcoal suede...
Is there a C&J last comparison chart somewhere comparable to those on the AE and Alfred Sargent websites?
Your shoes look great! And so does your photography.
Could you share some details? What is the backdrop and what sort of lighting are you using?
If you care to share, that is.
I'm looking at diving into C&J for more sleek lasted shoes. However, the lasts are all very confusing to me at the moment. If anyone can give me some help, I would appreciate it. I'm a 7 UK in Tricker's 4444 last. For Aldens, I'm a 8 US in Barrie/TruBalance/Modified and a 8.5 US in Plaza/Grant. Thank you in advance.
The four most popular lasts, from most to least sleek, would probably be something like 348 -> 358 -> 337 ->341.
Stay with your Tricker size.
348 and 358 are the same shape, both are very slightly longer than 337. 360 is the most full last of C&J but I have never tried anything on.
Really? Even though the 4444 last from Tricker's fit generously? Also, are the lasts labeled on the boxes or on the shoes? I may stop by the local Barney's to try some on. I fear of buying online and needing to return due to improper sizing.
It is of course the best if you are able to try at your local Barney's; call ahead to see if they have the model/last/size available. Check online first for last. Model/size is located inside the shoes; last are not.
Yes. 4444/4497s lasts were made with thick or double socks in mind. Without knowing how you wear them it is hard to determine. Are you having a snug fit in 4444 with thin dress socks or comfortable fit in 4444 with hiking socks?
Also, youtube some video to learn a proper fit before you head in.
Thanks for the help. I sized down half a size for the 4444 last. I wear them with normal to thin socks. Thicker socks will definitely not work. They fit comfy as is. What exactly should I YouTube? Great tip on looking up the lasts first. I can get the info by the model names I assume. Thanks again for the tip! Edit: I looked up the lasts already and they are all 348 and 337. The Weymouth is my favorite at the moment. I also see mentioning of fitting and most are listed with E. What does this imply?
C&J and Lobb are usually full size down and EG/G&G are half size down. At least for me. So if you are 10D US, go for 9E UK C&J/Lobb and 9.5E EG/G&G.
E is the standard fitting. C&J only has standard fitting in most shoes. 348 is the same as 358. If in doubt, get C&J's catalogue in PDF and put that on your smart phone.
There's also articles in LL archive about how shoes should fit.
