Almost all my Aldens have this issue, only one C&J does but it's minor. None of the handgrades or Cleverleys rtw have them though

Stevent, yea consider CJ Benchgrade is still a handmade shoe, minor flaw is to be expected. I just want new buyer of CJ Benchgrade to know they shouldn't expect perfection. If the same flaw were found in CJ Handgrade, EG or JLP, I think you will also see a R or Sub stamped to the shoe.

Cross post from recent purchases; I took delivery of my C&J Ludlow boots:

Revisting my last "Hurrah!" big clothing purchase for a while. Just received them today, wore them for an hour or so around the office, and they are, in a word, fantastic. fyi: I got them from member Gyasih who was generous enough to work a deal with me, I can't say enough about how well the transaction went.

Harry usually digs my new footwear, he seems bewildered with these. Finicky cat.

The Ludlows look great and they look very similar in shape to my Hastings, although I think they're on a different last. Nice boots!

As far as last/shape, I actually think they're almost identical to my Cliffords (also in Oak) which led me to worry about redundant crossover (why have 2 pair of essentially the same shoe, one as a shoe and one as a boot?). Obviously, I talked myself through it - plus the balmoral shoe vs. blucher boot helps distinguish them a bit too. I'll also note that the medallion between them is different (the Clifford sports a traditional [ahem] "cock and balls") which is nice so they don't have the same toes.
