I'm in shock, I received a return email from cj in NY. The price for a handgrade alex is 1250$. Wow that's more than double the price for a bench grade model and 500$ more than the waymouth same show with brogueing unreal. At that rate I'd rather a ladbroke top drawer.

What is the Alex? it is not in the catalogue

I tried a pair on in NY but really wanted a handgrade model. Really clean shoe, sharp. I think sky valet carried it also.

I think what drove up the price is that to get a HG version of the Alex (black wholecut), it would have to be MTO. I think the NYC store stocks HG around $800 and MTO is 50% of that so I that would bring it to the $1250 range. I think it is less Mr. Bond than it is upgrading to HG (MTO).

At that price you can get G&G Sinatra.

Islay owners, how do you guys care for yours? I'm using Saphir products, and find that using their wax polish would make sense, but what colour? And would you occasionally use renovateur or cream polish as well? Opinions much appreciated!

I'm saying no; not because of the model as such, but mainly because of the rubber sole.
