What’s the difference between the 341 (Chelsea 8) and 335 (Chelsea 5) last in your opinion? The website doesn’t tell me anything helpful. Looking at black CJ Chelseas and can’t really tell the difference other than the dainite vs city rubber sole and the different last.

I’d wear them mainly with dark denim or chinos in the colder months if that helps.

341 is a well proportioned last to look at. Suiting formal and casual wear. 335 is more roomy and has a broader round toe and offers more space at the forepart of foot. . . . . .all things relative to one's foot shape ofcourse.

The 341 last is much roomier than you would think. I bought a pair of Brecons online from Pockets because their website said "wide fitting". I thought this meant they were an F or G. When they arrived and the box said E Fitting, I thought, "well, they're going back then". I would never have bought them if I thought they were E because they look narrow and I have fairly wide feet. However, they are one of my most comfortable pairs (out of 20) that I own. Much more comfortable than the 335. My feet look like they're bulging out at the side of my Chelsea 5.

Interesting. They 'seem' more narrower just by looking at photos online. I have sworn off buying more boots so will refrain from picking up the Harlech's but there was a time I was seriously considering it and was unsure of how the last fit.....

Pretty attracted by this Crawford from the Hand Grade collection, but always wary in case of loafers. The last is described as being narrower waisted and with a slimmer heel, which sounds good. Anybody with some experience?

That’s surprising given the last guide linked above would indicate it’s a narrower, more restrictive boot. So you find the 8 more comfortable?

I mean... "I don't know my size, I want to buy a few pairs... I'm new to the brand" you think would logically lead any salesman to "oh, let's get you fitted so you can buy something." But I'm no salesman, I just work with statistics. Guess you miss 100% of the shots not taken comes to life.

I'm not trying to **** on the brand or any store, I'm just sharing my experience. Please don't be offended (if you are, as a distinguished member, or please don't be offended that I'm taking it that you may be offended). I like their offerings, I just want some of my own.

I think I hear your frustration and I had bit of a same experience in one of my two visits to Jermyn street shop. The second time I got really useful help on fitting though. I have visited their Brussels store several times and the service there has been remarkable especially on fitting. They even noticed some features of my feet that I should pay attention to that I had no idea about before the visit.

Overall I think C&J online customer care and sales reps have extensive knowledge on shoe fitting. Maybe you just had bad luck and the sales person had a bad hair day or something.

At times you get great service. Other times you dont. Sometimes their store staff will genuinely engage. Other times it will just be superficial gestures and an air of arrogance.

Its also the case you get judged on your appearance (unfortunately) which determines how much attention they will pay.

I think it also depends on who's serving and who's managing the store at the time. The service at 92 Jermyn St is generally of a very good standard as B.E.N the manager is on duty who's a pleasant personality and always gives attention and care to customers.

Overall, C&J DOES TRY to give a good customer experience.

In recent times, Cheaney has been giving excellent service and salesmanship across their growing number of stores in London city.

Last time I've been to a brick and mortar store... I'm a millenial and work in IT, so it might be never.

I did work as a sales clerk during my time in colleges and let's say there were days I wasn't allowed to drive but still required to work. If your analogy fits, Apple, Asus and others are all horrible brands

Gents, looking for sizing advice. I own the following

Two pairs of Grant stone on the Leo last in size 10D
One pair of Alden boots on the Barrie last in size 10D
One pair of Spier and Mackay chukka boot in size 10D

I had a pair of CJ boston in size 9UK which translates to 10D but that was half a size too big being that it's a loafer.

I'm looking at the 325 and 378 last. Would I be a 9UK in these lasts?
