Definitely pricey, but in line with what Ashland Leather charges for a Horween shell wallet. I'd assume quality is similar.
My journey in early 2023 was a bit of an epiphany. Finding that I preferred a half a size down in the Islay, over what was already excellent in my OG size 9’s… but it started with the wayward, weird, things not feeling right in the 335 Skye… I’d never have gone down the rabbit hole otherwise. It’s a journey worth getting right. This was a comforting post. I am beginning the same journey and really investigating my fit which has led me to just give up on the 325 although there are many styles that I really like and I own three shoes in it.
It is the Islay that fits my feet really well also. After two months of experience it surprises me how good it feels. I tested in the C&j Brussels store (really nice service btw.) to still go down half a size to get it even more snug and it seemed to work. If I decide to go for another Islay (or maybe Kelso) it will be half a size down.
I am sure the C&J quality will be amazing. I tried their belts and they are beautiful if I wear a belt with tailored trousers (which is all too rare)…
I prefer my FiloFax😂
I had the problem with several maker’s books, fortunately not my Islay’s. However, this solution I’ve included just requires a little sweat equity to achieve excellent results. Also, you get the satisfaction of fixing the problem yourself. See below, I don’t recall who originally posted this, if I did I would give them credit but I saved it:Guys I need help. My Islay and Harlech boots are almost unwearable due to their horrendous thin and loose tounge that during the day inevitably creeps around my leg and creates discomfort and pressure points. These shoes are literally the only ones in my entire boot collection that do this and the fault is 100% the tounge design.
How can I solve this, do I just take it to a cobbler and ask them to add some stitches to keep it roughly in place?
Here is a pic of a recent GMTO Islay with a half-bellows. I don't think you can add it afterwords.Does anyone have an example pic of some half-bellows Islays? For an upcoming MTO pair I am considering to alleviate the tongue issue noted above.
Aaaah the Islay .... which is raved on about as a boot. A long loose tongue. And ski-hooks that go far up as top of the Eiffel tower. I suppose any cobbler would convert it half bellows and stitch it along the eyelets to solve your problem. Shoehealer did a video on it recently. But it is a long tongue that.

I highly recommend it!
The Wexford Blucher in Dark Brown
Our lace-up split toe blucher from Crockett & Jones of England has a raised apron and split toe seam detail. Made from brown calf leather and sturdy Ridgeway rubber soles with a natural welt. In sizes 8.5–12.www.bensilver.com
Not sure if they are actively restocking, but all sizes seem to be available.
A half bellows isn't the end-all cure either though. My Tricker's Stow tongue also twists a little, although I put this down to newness and toughness of the leather. My other boot (Loake Roehampton) doesn't have a half bellows and sits fine from day 1.
Is there such a thing as full bellows tongue? I've not seen itMaybe a full bellows is. Certainly it's a better than a loose tongue though.
