What is the best way to correct water stains from being out in the rain on C&J’s scotch grain leather? Should I use some Saphir renovated? Just use my brown shoe cream as usual? Wipe with vinegar and water?

I’ve read a number of contradictory things online so I thought I’d check here since many of you have experience with this exact leather.

Thanks in advance!

I would soak the leather in water again, eventually using some leather soap and then allow the shoes to dry up slowly and naturally with trees. The stains should come off.

You could also try by gently using some Reno-Mat. You have to be careful though as it's pretty aggressive.

A pair of vintage C&J I recently picked up from a local seller, anyone know how old they are? They look like something from the 70s but I'm not sure.

They look stunning but if Crockett and Jones produced a pair of brogues now that aren't fully leather lined but instead (what looks like linen), people would say the standards had dropped.

Had noticed that myself. Don't know though which is the better option: I think that a canvas lining could be as comfortable, if not more, as a leather one.

I can appreciate a linen lining in a summer loafer but not sure about a brogue. I get cold feet in winter in anything thats not leather lined though. I have asked for a new pair of wellies for Christmas which are rated comfortable down to -15c.

Probably that's the standard back then, a lot of my vintage shoes from the 50s-60s and earlier were constructed like that, leather linned heel and other part are canvas linned. Canvas linned somehow makes the shoes last much longer, my fully leather linned vintage shoes are often have terrible leather condition, canvas linned shoes are not.

Good evening,
I am eyeing on Donegal 2 on 394 last but I didn't find any comments about fitting. Based on CJ description on website it should has very generous toe box and closer fitting heel.

Last 394 fits true to size. Asymmetric in fitting, this last is often comfortable from the first wear. It has a generous toe box with plenty of room in the fore part that is coupled with our closer fitting heel.

Can anybody tell how they fit in compare to other generous lasts like 335 or 365 please? Thank you.
Hello,
after wearing my Donegal 2 5-6 times now, I can say that I personally find the toebox more narrow than in 365 and even in 325 last. Heel fits more snug than those lasts, but the toebox as well. I would not call it "very generous", but it is still comfortable. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I prefer to wear wool felt soles in them (I often have cold feet on the leather insoles). But with felt soles or without, the space ratio for me is the same in all three shoe lasts. Without an additional sole, there is of course more space in the Donegal. Nevertheless, I like the Donegal quite a lot.

Please post some photos of the Donegal🙏
