On a separate note, I’m pleased to say that in spite of a couple of recent acquisitions, I’ve managed to reduce my collection by around 10 pairs in the last 2 months. My rule is, if I haven’t worn them in the most reason season for which they were intended, then it’s time to say goodbye. I’m trying to improve the quality yet reduce the quantity of my collection. My next step is to sell shoes where I have more than one very similar pair. This as you have probably surmised, has been caused by poor buying practices over the years.

Sounds like a sensible strategy.
When it comes to shoes, "to buy is to learn" . So i wouldn't label having bought a lot of shoes over the years as 'poor buying practices'

So after I was chastised for my overly large Pembrokes, I did the only decent thing and flogged them. The new ones I ordered were half a size down and I’m pleased to report the fit is much improved. This was definitely a sizing issue rather than an issue with 317 last though.

They look good. You made the right decision.

So rather than taking the advice of my close friends and family, I have chosen to trust my loose forum acquaintances instead, and ordered the TSG Conistons. I know you guys have my best interest at heart, and I always appreciate your straight, unbiased advice. Will post pics on Monday.

The Pembroke's arrived and couldn't be happier. They look much better than in the ad. A few new laces and bit of polish is all that's needed.

Can also confirm the 10E fit is similar, if not slightly larger than my 10F from other brands (Loake, Tricker's, Cheaney etc).

Below are the worst and best looking photo:

The original soles had me worried for a bit, but haven't even passed half their life yet.

Absolute steal at €50. Soles don’t even look 25% done. Well played sir. I just shelled out £300 for some new ones that will look like yours soon enough anyway.

Where did you get new Pembrokes for £300? Also, those soles aren't even 10%. They look almost mint to me.

Agreed, I was being conservative, I can’t believe someone let them go for €50.

I have a contact with with someone who’s shop closed and they have about 40 pairs left with limited sizes and models. Luckily for me they had Pembroke and Coniston in my size.

Nice! Have they put any on Ebay? I've never bought from Ebay before but I'm tempted by a pair of BNIB Grasmere for £350!

EBay is hit and miss but lots of good sellers on there. This seller is completely legit. They only have about 7 pairs advertised on eBay but I believe they have lots that aren’t on there yet. I can pm you the username of you like.
