Beautiful rug and thanks @zippyh for your answer.

I'm fine with Tricker's 5-width and Cheaney F-width's, so might give C&J a try next.

It would be useful if the producers would agree on a standard about width, as well as about length. It seems that some has an E width as default for medium and others an F.

I have experience with John Lobb, Gaziano & Girling, Crockett & Jones and Church's, the latter being the only one having F as a medium stadard width. However, I feel that the E width of Crockett & Jones is wider than that of the other aforementioned producers.

Seems the UK manufacturers are fairly uniform when it comes to length and just differ in what they call their versions of medium/wide. North American companies are all over the map when it comes to sizing. See Alden/Viberg/White’s just to start for sizing madness.

What's worse in all of this is that UK folks find it difficult/expensive to acquire american shoes in the UK. And American folks find it difficult/expensive to acquire english shoes in the USA. Both these nations have deep rooted economic ties which just dont favour or reflect in shoe trading. Heck, both countries probably do arms/ammunition trading more easily than they do shoe trading :rotflmao:

I would disagree, I wear a 10 size for Edward Green and Gaziano & Girling and 9 1/2 for John Lobb and Crockett & Jones.

Good evening, does my boots fit right? I wouldn't say they are tight, I have still plenty room for thick sock, but I have little bump from pinky toe. Is it normal in suede boots? Thanks.

I'd say a bit of both. Would these boots fit if they weren't suede? Possibly not. Is suede a soft material that follows your feet more closely, absolutely. It depends on if your footprint is well inside the lines of the welt, which is hard to say.

I noticed something similar on a new pair recently. Would've kept them if the faces didn't touch, but I have this same size/last on two other boots that I consider to be my favorite.

Used to be the easiest way to buy C&J in the US was from now defunct retailer Barney’s or via Ralph Lauren custom make ups. They always went on end of season sales and often at deep discount.

Until recent C&J forcing price parity for mail order it’s always been cost effective for US folks to buy from UK even with 8.5% duty for orders over $800.

Even UK C&J stores themselves used to undercut their US prices.

What went wrong and where? Barneys gone. Ralph Lauren no longer does any C&J.
I think Sears closed down too in USA.

I suspect the powers that be at RL realized the people who would pay $1300 for a calf C&J tassel loafer would also pay $1300 for a made in Italy by a no name manufacturer calf tassel.

Hello everybody,

does anyone wear the Galway-Boot "Perth" ? How does it look like being worn in Autumn and Winter?

Most shoes shown here are rather causual, not the formal oxfords or balmoral boots.

Best regards

Pascal

@Shanghaining Would love to hear your thoughts on the 391 last once you've had the chance to wear these for a few weeks and break them in. In particular, how it compares in terms of width around the toes to other C&J lasts you have experience with.

Glad to report that I took them out for the first time today, as the new shoe trees have also arrived this morning. The Yales were extremely comfortable from the get go, no annoying blisters around my toes after a considerable stroll, cycling and commute around the town. It took me the longest to break into the Hallam (348) and to some extent the Audley (338), each requiring a few dozen wears, whereas the Sydney/Bradford (341) and Malton (360) were a lot easier for my feet to mold into.

The Yale (391) feels comfortable if not roomy at the toe box from the first step, therefore no such width issues especially around the vulnerable little toes. I would also venture to say that it probably only needs a few more wears to imprint my feet unto the insoles and it should be set for years to come.

It had thus registered to me why such styles including the Harvard were so popular among the college kids during much of the twentieth century around the campuses such as their namesakes, these conservatively lasted loafers are not overly elongated, with enough allowance for the toes and effortless to put on or off. Part of my commute today was also in a bus, when my peripheral vision noticed a middle aged lady was fixated at the Yale for a few seconds with a mild sense of appreciation.

Absolutely gorgeous, 4-Loko shoes. I'm jealous.
