I’ve not owned pull-up. Any difference in how to care for them?

Its really a tough (and thicker) leather. And it's oily. Can take a beating. Maintained easily in my view and nothing different from the usual - from time to time just a bit of cream or wax polish brushed in and then wiped off with a cloth

It takes less caring for in my experience. CXL just needs the occasional dose of VSC and a good brush.

In my view its a leather for the weather. Looks good on casual-smart and outdoor wear. I personally would not buy a formal shoe in this leather.

What is the best budget-friendly alternative to the Roughout Conistons? My son is 18 and looking for something similar, but I can’t find anything else that has the same combination of rugged aesthetic and a silhouette that can pass for smart casual. Thursday? Wolverine? I'd say your best bet is Meermin. Much has been made of their (lack of) customer service and QC but they use CF Stead waxy commander and goodyear welt construction, so good bang for your buck at this price point

The closest thing I have to my conistons aesthetically are Rancourt Byron boots. They are offered in a variety of leathers but not roughout. The natty cxl are similarly casual though. They can be had in the pre-order sale under $300. They are Blake stitched, not welted though and quality isn’t close to C&J and they have QC issues IMO.

In terms of European manufacturers, Meermin offer budget friendly options in the style but not sure how easy they are to get in the U.S.

I keep getting marketing emails from a reasonably new UK company called Lanx boots. They are well priced and have many roughout options. They offer Blake stitched and welted options too with welted costing more. I have no idea regarding quality but they look ok.

Hurricane hide

How does hurricane hide take cream/polish? I quite enjoy polishing shoes/boots. With a glass of red wine, I find it therapeutic and relaxing. Does cream sit on top of hurricane hide or does it absorb it?

Also, can you use renovator on hurricane hide?

P.S those boots look outstanding!
