Any sizing tips for 379 last v 325? I’m looking at getting some Westgate Oxfords and wear a UK9 in 325 and 365 lasts. I have a feeling sizing up may be required but not sure. I’m also interested in the width as I have quite wide feet. Anyone own a pair of these?

While I’m asking for advice, I’m considering wearing these for a wedding. I was going wear some Pembrokes but thought that Oxfords might be more appropriate. Any views on this?
Depends on the level of formality mate, nice tweed jacket and chinos go a treat with the Pembroke!

Hello everybody,

a question concern your experience with the fit and break-in of C&J shoes:

I am wearing for the fifth time today the "Weymouth 2" in UK 7 / EU 41 on the 373 last. It is the first time that experience pressure and rubbing in the heal. The shoe is still snug, with a small crease folt above my left big toe joint that presses a little bit into it.

-> Do those shoes still adapt to the heel, or are they just half a size to small?

i also wear the balmoral single monk on the same last 373 in UK 7.5 and it fits after 3-4 days of wear very nice without heel rubbing or a crease folt pressing a little bit into the left big toe joint. My left foot is almost 5mm longer then my smaller right foot.

The "James" on the last 348 is also a wholecut, like the "Weymouth 2", and feels roomy in UK 7.5.

Enjoy your weekend and best regards

If right foot fits well, fake a foot injury and wear a rocker boot on your left foot.

Well,

in Germany we also wear heavy cleated soles with polished calf-leather full-brogue derbies in autumn and winter with our suits:

Hence you find many derbies, by far more than oxfords, in German shoe stores.
Until 2022 my footwear was also just full-brogue derbies in black and brown with a leather sole with rubber protectors, goodyear-welted for 100€ from Deichman and Gordon & Bros. That was already "dressy" im comparison to others in the office.

...however, we also invented "Birkenstocks" and sandals with tennis socks as footwear ;-).

Enjoy your sunday and best regards

Not a fan, it looks like a sort of mismatch to me. There are other (sleeker, smarter) boots that would pair much better with a suit.

Kudos to ya for carrying around the coat, the shoes, the watch, the brolley and the bag. They all look solid. And it seems a heavy affair. Your probably lifting around some 25 kilos / 55 pounds there

Oh, that is not me. But I look comparable in the autumn and winter months. My business backpack with laptops and electronics weights around 15kg, and then my sports bag, heavy coat, and umbrella. Yes, 25kg /55lbs is a probable ballpark.

Best regards

Yes, but that is the fashion here. I would prefer Balmorals, formal Chelseas, Chukkas or Derby boots in dark brown or black calf-leather.

Best regards

than do as you like.
I presume only very few people in frankfurt even know the difference between an oxford and a "budapester".

hi @Fenners81
definitely consider sizing up.
the 379 is a short last and toebox isn't as spacious as 325.

in my opinion c&j did change the scale of their sizes some five years ago.
in the classic lasts 325, 341 and 348 I wear half a number smaller than churchs or trickers (c&j 10, church's 10,5).

in more recent lasts (379) I'm now on par with size of other northampton makers.
