379 is a more shaped shoe that works well for higher inset. It just didnt provide enough arch support for my flatish feet (on Connaught)

376 are basically loafers! Hadn't clocked that but Harvard's etc. Not sure that helps in high arch. Would look at Crawford's or even cadoogan
Asked a similar question before, but I think it got lost in the shuffle:

What is the general C&J last recommendation for those with a higher instep and arch?

I've heard positives about the 379, and the 376 seems to be a loafer that might work (better than a lower profile one such as Alden's LHS).

Much appreciation to everyone for the advice! 325 looks like a good option (especially for a tassel loafer) and it sounds like 379 might work too.

There seem to be various reports on the Harvard and Boston. Some folks say they fit better than something like Alden (apparently the LHS is notoriously tight across the strap area/instep), while others have the same problem with C&J. Maybe Cavendish is the way to go...

When I have called up the factory it seems like the back office is quite a small operation. Worth sending in feedback on that - might not have occured to them.

Purchased my first pair of Crockett & Jones in the Harvard 2 loafer (snuff). The shoe looks and fits perfectly. My question is I plan to use Saphir Médaille d’Or Suede Renovateur Suede Spray for protection. had planned on using the "neutral" color but watching a video on the Crockett & Jones website they were showing a dark brown suede loafer and recommended using dark brown spray.

Is there a benefit to using a colored spray vs. neutral? I would be concerned that the "mid brown" Saphir spray may not be a perfect match.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have dark brown suede Boston loafers and use the neutral spray with no issues. I have also used it on two pairs of snuff suede Alden shoes with no issues or color variance.

I apologize as the overly eager new member but after purchasing the C&J Harvard 2 loafers, I am interested in replacing my R.M. Williams Comfort Craftsman boots (chestnut leather). I like the R.M. boot but mistakenly went too small and after wearing them quite a bit during a recent trip to Tokyo, several of my toes turned nearly black due to the incorrect sizing (toes hitting front of boot).

I am considering the C&J Chelsea 5 and 8 but leaning towards the 5 in dark brown wax with Dainite rubber soles over the 8 with city rubber soles. My reasoning is I am interested in a multi purpose Chelsea boot that I can wear for business casual (olive/khaki colored chinos/indigo denim), weekend and easily pack when traveling. I thought the Chelsea 8 with the slimmer toe looks a bit more formal especially with the dark brown or chestnut burnished leather. I did like the look of the Comfort Craftsman especially when worn with slim/tapered denim/trousers but I was less crazy about the look when worn with straight leg denim/trousers.

My question is would the 8 look too bulky/chunky for what intended uses?

Go with neutral. Keep away from anything your wife treasures and use lots of newspaper! Garage floor is my safe place.

Buy the 5 and save up for the 8. Even greater versatility.

Hi Gents

I couldn't help myself and grabbed a pair of Eskdale (2) boots from Matches. However I am not entirely convinced about the finishing on them, guess I expected better from Crockett and Jones.

Do these look OK to you? I think this is the welt join, but on the left foot it isn't as flush?

My Eskdale 2 look nothing like that. Welt is brown on mine. But personally I wouldn't accept that

That rubber sole came in handy walking around town looking for ice cream. And they worked just as well at opera in the garden tonight!
