Hi Gents

I couldn't help myself and grabbed a pair of Eskdale (2) boots from Matches. However I am not entirely convinced about the finishing on them, guess I expected better from Crockett and Jones.

Do these look OK to you? I think this is the welt join, but on the left foot it isn't as flush?

I wore my trusty C&J Bradford cordrovan shoes today. They fit very well and are good for longer walks. The workmanship is superb and the leather is great quality. Not much to complain.

Looking very smart. I find my Bradford’s very versatile… I am away with work this week and had I bothered to polish mine after some recent heavy wear they would have been the first choice to pack.

Looks fine, that's what happens on the 360 welt from time to time
Thanks, I mean at this price I shouldn't complain, but wanted to make sure there are no gotchas. TBH, the joint is on the inside of the shoe so not that much visible.

Can I assume that C&J uses repello suede on their boots including the Eskdale 2?

Not a lot of love on here for the SS24 releases. But I warmed to these Biburys and so did others, Jermyn Street pulled these down from the factory for me. Spacious last and the new rubber sole, which I dismissed on View attachment 2189097 View attachment 2189099 launch, is actually very comfortable!

I popped into C&J on Jermyn St earlier for a browse and thought these looked really nice up close. Great smart casual summer boot. I might go back in to try them on at some point..

I’ll be stomping them around Italy next week, so they’ll get a good summer test! The subtle contrast between the welt and the suede caught my eye. Very roomy and comfortable!

Can image they’ll be perfect for that and look suitably at home in beautiful Italian surroundings!

Please post some more photos!

Asked a similar question before, but I think it got lost in the shuffle:

What is the general C&J last recommendation for those with a higher instep and arch?

I've heard positives about the 379, and the 376 seems to be a loafer that might work (better than a lower profile one such as Alden's LHS).

I just decided to prioritise fit and comfort above style. So loafers are off the list for me. I like simple solutions.

325 last has a higher instep
Let me add to that, 325 has a humongous instep. I don’t Get how someone with high that instep wouldn’t fit in 378 when Compared to person with a low step… the one with the higher step will have lacing that is further apart, but both will fit in 378… while a person with a low step will never wear 325. This last 325 doesn’t make sense, but I guess it sells.

325 has some of the greats in there. Pembroke for example. Good for the wider foot etc.

Last 325
