I have both; nice shoes but they look and feel flimsier in construction than C&J;
My ranking would be
C&J Benchgrade
AS Exclusive
C&J Handgrade
Although frankly I prefer the leather on the AS Exclusives to that of the C&J handgrade.
I've got a pair each of the C&J bench and handgrades and am looking forward to an AS Exclusive on a handgrade last MTO. Glad to hear the endorsement of the leather.

Is the above Peal & Co. model made by C&J? The BB customer service folks are no help in this regard.
And if yes, which last?
Thanks.
my guess is the C&J Hardwick on the 341 last ...
I'm talking C&J Handgrade and AS Exclusive; I will post some pics later.What grades of each are you comparing- handgrade or benchgrade C&J and vice-versa for Sargent.
I think so too, looks like the 337 or 341 last.

Guys, I want to expanding my collection of black shoes because I am forbidden from wearing brown for work. I currently rotate between a pair of capped oxford and an adelaide. I am thinking of getting the black Aintree 2 which is a plain three eyelet derby. or a black Clifford (a full brogue). Or the only other option are monks and I am not sure, but I would prefer laces I think. Does anyone have either of these shoes, or any other suggestions for more unusual black shoes? Thanks
