I also would have ordered a pair of those Conistons in earth green but that's simply too expensive for someone in Europe:
675 USD + 97 USD shipping (!) + import taxes ... sums up to approx. 900 EUR.
DR does not seem to deduct VAT when ordering from outside of the US.

C&J are a funny old firm. They're caught between a rock and a hard place. Do they go super upmarket or stay relatively affordable? IMHO they have some of the best lasts out there. I had a reverse calf suede Oxford that would have put Edward Green to shame. I had another Oxford from their high end range, spent several days polishing them lovingly, and turned them into a true high end RTW shoe.
That would cost them a lot to do and I suppose people would be more tempted by E.G. & GG. My advice to anyone who's buying a new pair is to lavish that care on them before wearing them and I think you'll be surprised at just how good they can be. Another thing is the Burlington arcade shop is staffed by lovely folk and I wish I could say the same about some of their competitors. I'm a human being and it's nice to see them adapt accordingly. I'm not royalty or a Sir, a nice cuppa and a hi Joe is always appreciated, by me at least.
I know what you mean but their market positioning and product line up together with the hard work of Jonathon Jones and his staff have taken the firm from near bankruptcy in the late 1970s to the hugely successful shoemaker it is today

I did it with 3 pairs of Trickers boots but I feel your potential pain! Promised myself I wouldn’t do it again. Why oh why do DR design more desirable boots from C&J and Trickers than the factories themselves. I’d jump on three of the C&J make ups if they were available here in the UK

US has no VAT to deduct. $675 is the price with no tax.
