The description says brown. It should be back up on the BB website tomorrow.

Beautiful job. Was that a direct job by C&J?

The top pair was done by C&J. Had them done a couple of months ago and the sole went spongey after <10 outings so they did another complete recraft free of charge.
The dainite sole was done by a local cobbler. £125 vs £50 :decisions:

very nice. i wish the states had more cobblers who could do resoles, toe plates, and provide some of the services you could expect from the factory (repairs, etc).

the description has always said "brown" and it's always been wrong :)

I bought them nearly 2 years ago. the color is pretty similar to AE burgundy shell, not the Alden version of #8. it's certainly not the brown on the Lindrick / Marlow line.

the wonders of gmail. conversation from January 2011:

    Me to C&J:

    "Hello,
I am interested in the Peal & Co.[IMG] Cordovan Boot you have made for Brooks Brothers. But, I am unclear on what color this boot is. Is it Dark Brown or Burgundy?

    This is the boot:

    http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...lor=BROWN&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize="

    C&J to me:

"the Peel boots are made in a Burgundy shell cordovan."

    C&J Ghillies for Barneys

These are a well thought out shoe with a real pizzazz... from the red Dainite soles with interlay red dainite in the heels (nice saving of AUD40 for Topys)... to the sexy ghillie treatment... the unusual beige colour and the detailing like the scotch thistle punching to the counter. For USD259 on sale "I done good" as they say Down Under.

Very nice. Did they originally have that much shape to the waist?

    Thanks for the post. Interesting.

I suspected they might be burgundy, but thought the website must have it right ....

I have also seen it the other way where others refer to dark brown as burgundy. Go figure ....
