1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I prefer a higher hem with a boot. Though, yeah, these are actually too high. But I'm sure he was lifting them....

I noticed that there aren't any real-life pictures of the 341 last or the Chelsea 8 on here so I'm posting mine. I think it's a great looking last. If you find that 348 is too long/chiseled, then this is for you.

How do those size? Can you compare with C&J last 348?

Rounder toe than 348, and while still an elongated last, not as long as the 348.

Looser than 337, which is looser than 348. I think you'll need to go one-half size down from your 348 size.

I ended up buying another pair of C&J boots, black scotchgrain for Brooks Brothers Black Fleece. Bought them from our fellow forum member eddievddr10. They're basically the Coniston with a double leather sole and no speed lacers. It's pitch black by 16:00 over here, so I've had no opportunity to take proper photos.

^ wore my pair all week. Great boot

I think black is one of those colors that works really well in scotch grain

Cancelled the MTO I mentioned a few pages back - apparently, it costs an extra £50 on top of the MTO mark-up to build a boot with veldtschoen construction. Found this out after placing the order and having pushed back (via C&J) against the factory's reluctance to make the boot initially. Twice.

This put the overall price at the bottom end of the EG sphere and this, coupled with the fact that I needed them by Chritmas, meant that EG have got my custom for this pair...

I had the opportunity to buy a pair for $250 but passed. Too plain and resembles a red wing working boot which doesn't go we'll with my really important, desk job, office culture

I've got it in dark brown rough-out, not sure if it's the same as the one linked. Good boot, I've treated mine like a workboot and it's been more than up to the job.

If you're after something a little less rugged after some wear, I'd check that the boot linked is actually suede as opposed to rough-out as they will wear very differently (and a lot of people mistake the two). Looks like suede in the pics though, to be fair.

Is rough-out the same as nubuck?

    I have various C&J lasts - all in UK8.5E.

    Is last 365 TTS?

I'd say so, both my pairs in 365 are TTS.

Nope, rough-out is simply reversed calf - the rough side, on the outside. It takes on something of a 'distressed' look with wear, and isn't something that's normally associated often with English footwear.
