Hello, appreciate your thoughts.

I just received my tan coniston boots from the Todd Snyder Black Friday sale and the quality isnt what I expected. The color of the leather uppers look blotchy and inconsistent throughout instead of a rich solid color. Is this is normal for a pebble grain boot and im unaware? It didn’t look like this when I tried them on for size at the C&J nyc store

Thank you in advance for sharing your insights and experiences

I've had mine for a week, also from Todd Snyder. Mine weren't perfect either; there were a couple of minor scuffs from in-store try-ons, but I was very happy with mine (nothing that a little wax and buffing can't fix). Your color looks a little inconsistent, but I actually think it has some nice character that way for a pebbled grain surface. I could be wrong and in the minority with this though.

Personally, I wouldn’t be happy with that. If it’s going to bother you, you should return them.

Those look very similar to the seconds I picked up when I was at the factory store in North Hampton. Mine were irregularly colored also. I used saddle soap to take off the worst of it.
I got them to look like this eventually.

My tan scotch grain Durhams show similar variation in color. I'm also of the opinion that it blesses the shoe with character and presence - especially given it is a rugged make.

Just received a brand new pair of handgrade Rosemoor’s that are 1/2 size too big. Before I send them back, I’m offering up here for what I paid. $375 (shipping included within us). 358 last in size 7.5E.

They are awesome .. scotch grain should not be uniform .. it looks boring that way! Keep them the way they are and wear them ... would make them easier to patina.

I see nothing wrong with your boots. Not one bit. Just wait until you start wearing them and polishing them. They’re gonna patina great.

@Mattkule I have two pairs of that color scotch grain from C&J. Pembrokes and some RL Lindricks. They both looked like that out of the box.

Great looking style, sadly the most uncomfortable ever!!!! My feet are screaming every time I'm about to put them into rotation .. Few days ago my feet felt so tired after just 100 meters of walking in them. They are tight, narrow and short with a lot of heel slip. Surprisingly unbalanced last that looks good.

Love the Fairford. That’s going to be my next purchase. How does the 373 fit relative to other C&J you have?
