while I agree with you in principal, (e.g. I own several pairs of EG, with only 1 being factory 2nd, but refuse to and have never paid full price for them), but think about it. Are any of the shoes we buy, really worth what we pay. I would say, it's a subjective thing. Perhaps we can find solace knowing we are providing a good living to the workers in the shoe makers factories by paying these prices?

I own roughly as many pairs of EG than I do, C&J. I buy EG when it's a model that they do better than anyone else. IMO, that includes the Galway and Dover (in any make up). I wouldn't buy a penny loafer or plain toe derby from EG, because for the price, I could buy two pairs from another shoemaker.

I am glad you mention this about helping to support fairly paid workers. This means a lot to me, also.

I must confess, there are one or two (okay, maybe several) Edward Green models I could see myself buying. But as somebody said just before, I would be VERY reluctant to pay full price. Very reluctant.

Problem is that galaway and Dover you will have to pay full price. If you want one bad enough because they don’t go on sale period. Or second option is go to factory and pick seconds. But they are still not cheap and it’s hit and miss aka luck of a draw. Sadly that’s how it is & EG knows this also. And congrats on those bad ass boots !!

Thank you. I’ll be honest, I’m not mad on the Dover. I like the Chelsea and several Galway. And yes, I would head to the factory shop. If I didn’t find anything worth getting for £500-600, I would be off to another factory shop, probably C&J. :)

I'm just a lucky sob; of all my Galway's only 1 is a sub and the other 4 I didn't pay full price. Got them on sale, they go on sale you just have to be patient. And all of my non boot EG shoes were bought on sale as well. I know that hurts my EG cred, (snicker), but that's the way I roll with them.

Well I am not saying you are wrong. I was referring to unique make ups example shell & utah, redwood calf & suede combo etc. yes basic dark oak one you can find on sale once in a great while. Other than that forget about it lol

This is very true. For the premium EG, you’re gonna pay a premium.

After a small issue, I followed the advice of other members here and sent my Radnors in Russian grain back to the Crockett & Jones shop where I purchased them. I must say, the customer service from the staff at Crockett & Jones has been excellent. I have gained a greater appreciation. The boots are now happily back home where they belong.

What did they say. Did they exchange them?

Nope. They were examined and the small fault acknowledged. They offered to replace them (with a wait of two months - apparently this model are that rare) or a price reduction. I went for the reduction. Shipping back and forth was covered also.
