What colour strap should I go with this watch if I want a more dressy, less casual look? Stick with black or go with a dark brown? Or should I go with a croc/gator print rather than plain? This is the one I'm thinking of getting: http://www.lonestarwatches.com/881.htm

The dial is a dark sapphire blue. Thanks

The oil tanned leather strap in the link isn't what I would consider dressy. Not a bad band, but definitely casual.

IMHO I think the distressed nature of the strap you are considering would still keep the watch looking more casual than dressy. If you want to dress it up, but not break the bank, try looking into the Caiman corocodile offered by Lonestar Watches. I happen to be wearing the dark brown this very moment. Extremely supple and quite attractive. I think the dark brown would look great with the saphirre blue dial, but black would work as well.

I actually have the oil tanned band you linked to.. it's pretty casual.

Gator is my go-to for dressy. While I would call contrast stitching more casual, I wear it with suits all the time. Still more than enough "dressy" for me.
If you don't want to spend the money on real gator, the one you linked to is nice.

For color, get whatever matches your shoes.
