Quick question about the crystal on nicer watches

I am a recent college graduate looking to soon buy my first nicer watch. I really love the way some watches have the sapphire crystal "sticking out" from the case of the watch. It seems like newer watches are putting them flush against the case now or am I mistaken. Is there a reason for this?

no
theres no trend
ive got em all - flush with the case, raised from case, and curved from the case (e.g. omega speedmaster)

its part of the aesthetics and i dont think about them in isolation one way or another

Thank you. So there is no advantage from one way or the other? I'm looking for something like a montblanc timewalker, Baume et mercier, or Hamilton with the crystal curved over the case.

not really
you could make a statement about legibility esp of text near the edge on curved glass, glare and reflection...but practically is null
recessed glass is functionally good for protection but that applies to tool watchs like gshock

here its just a matter of aesthetics
